Wednesday Roundup
Singer Chris Brown was forced to give up telephone and internet. In addition, the singer was also forced to fork over marijuana, which he claimed was medically prescribed for him. Brown is completing a 90 day stint in rehab for anger management. He has been given until January 8 to review evidence with his lawyers in connection with a misdemeanor assault charge he picked up last month. Things quickly went south when rapper Kanye West appeared on the Sway Calloway morning show. At one point the two began trading insults before later apologizing to one another. Meanwhile, girlfriend Kim Kardashian gave the parody video featuring actors James Franco and Seth Rogan her stamp of approval. West denied that he asked fans to boycott designer Louis Vuitton. West closed the interview by vowing to become "the Tupac of clothing" and then spit a freestyle with no rhymes. 17-year-old New Zealand singer/songwriter Lorde recently slammed rapper Drake and Nicki Minaj for lyrics she says don't relate to her or anyone she knows. She went on the say that the two sing about opulence, which is irrelevant. The singer's debut album, "Pure Heroine" was released on Sep. 30. The family of late soul singer Marvin Gaye isn't backing down from claims that singer Robin Thicke copied the Motown's artist's music to create his hit single "Blurred Lines". Last month, Gaye's children, Frankie and Nona, filed a countersuit against Thicke and collaborators Pharrell Williams and T.I. in reponse to the singer's attempt at legal protection. Marvin Gaye Jr., the singer's adopted son and eldest of his three children, has followed in his siblings footsteps by filing a copyright infringement suit of of his own against Thicke. Jr. accuses Thicke of stealing his father's composition "Got To Give It Up", along with three other tracks. Legal documents state that Thicke's songs "Love And War", "Make U Love Me" and "Million Dollar Baby" serve as examples of tracks similar to Gaye's songs "After The Dance", "I Want You" and "Trouble Man". Although Gaye Jr. claims that Thicke stole from his father more than once, his counterclaim only surrounds "Blurred Lines" and "Love After War". He also hasn't named publisher EMI April or its owner Sony/ATV in the legal filings, like his siblings. Provided that the Gaye family wins the suit, dispersing the money between family members could take some time. Thicke admitted to heing inspired by the songs during an interview earlier this year, but maintains that his hit isn't a carbon copy of the 1971 hit. His lawyer has indicated plans to challenge the countersuit. On the tube: "The X Factor" on Fox, "Criminal Minds" on CBS, "The Middle" on ABC and "The Making of the Sound of Music Live" on NBC. Tuesday Tales
The Jackson family is furious over Dr. Conrad Murray's recent interview in which he revealed intimate details regarding his time with singer Michael Jackson. Katherine Jackson's attorney reportedly sent an email to Murray letting in be known what the family thinks of his comments. Murray has not responded to the email. Chicago rapper Chief Keef will have to fork over child support for yet another child after it was determined that he is the father of a ten-month-old girl. The mother is allegedly asking for $2,500 per month and an additional $25,000 lump sum. The rapper has also been ordered to obtain life and health insurance for the toddler. This isn't the only child support case on the rapper's record. He paid $11,000 for a second child after the mother sued him for $20,900 in back pay. He's currently in a California rehab facility in the mist of a 90-day stay. What's it like to get on rapper Kanye West's bad side? Actors James Franco and Seth Rogan may soon find out. During some down time from shooting their new film "The Interview", the two decided to do a shot for shot parody of West's "Bound 2" video. In the original clip, West and a topless Kim Kardashian simulate sex on a motorbike behind poorly executed graphics. The parody, which features Franco as West and Rogan as Kardashian, shows the two recreating the couple's intimate moments, even kissing in one scene. Rogan tweeted the video to the newly engaged couple, although West hasn't responded publicly. He may not think that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel parodied of West's interviews in which a child played West and it didn't go over well with the Chicago MC. West later launched an all out Twitter war against Kimmel, which boiled over after he made a guest appearance on Kimmel's late night talk show. Hopefully, West will see the humor in the duo's parody. Rapper Dr. Dre is firing back after a celebrity web site claimed he cheated on his wife. So far, no response from the site. In other Dr. Dre news, he along with mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs and Jay Z made Forbes magazine's list of highest paid musicians. The three were the only hip hop related names to make the list of 25. Sean "Diddy" Combs landed at the No. 1 spot with a net worth of $50 million. Jay Z wasn't far behind at No. 19 with a net worth of $42 million. Dr. Dre came in at No 21 with $40 million. The D.C. court demands that any defendant appear in court for hearings pertaining to a case, even misdemeanors. The California court that sent Brown to rehab, however, demands that he remain in rehab or risk violating his probation. Thankfully, Brown's attorney was able to get his client out of flying to D.C. for the assault hearing and continue his treatment. Friday Facts
More tour dates on rapper Kanye West's Yeesuz tour have been postponed after a car accident destroyed a custom video truss and a 60-foot LED light "central to the creative vision of the show" Wednesday. According to celebrity web site TMZ, West "refuses to compromise on bringing the show as designed to his fans". The tour will resume after the stage pieces are rebuilt. Rapper Drake has had his share of problems since hitting the road as well. Although he and fellow rapper Future have settled their differences, the tour has reportedly had production problems. A platform Drizzy uses during his set has been repaired and it appears that the tour will resume as scheduled. It appears that singer Robin Thicke's own works may work against him in a still pending legal battle over his hit single "Blurred Lines". Back in August, Thicke filed a preemptive lawsuit denying that he and collaborators T.I. and Pharrell Williams stole the late singer's hit "Got To Give It Up". Now, Gaye's children Nona and Frankie have fired back with a counter suit against Thicke claiming that he admitted to stealing "Got To Give It Up" to make "Blurred Lines" , then changed his tune. In court documents, the family cites Billboard and GQ interviews where Thicke noted the 1977 singe as his "favorite of all time", and admitted to wanting to make "something with that groove". The family goes on to point out that he changed his story in September, telling TMZ that Gaye's music didn't inspire him to write "Blurred Lines". The suit further alleges that Thicke's "Love After War" copies Gaye's hit "After The Dance". Absent from the lawsuit filing was Marvin Gaye ///, who vowed to sue Thicke, but recently suffered kidney failure. The family denied Thicke's reported six-figure offer to keep the battle out of court, and is seeking profits and other damages from the hit single, which reached No. 1 in more than a dozen countries. Actress Kerry Washington will host "Saturday Night Live" tomorrow, which will feature musical guest Eminem. Fans can expect plenty of hilarious Django parities.
