Thursday Dish

In light of the direction the entertainment industry has gone in of late, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the subject. Once upon a time, one had to have true talent to get a "break", so to speak. My how things have changed. Today, one can make a sex tape, or do anything else one deems appropiate and suddenly become a star. This, I believe, is a travesty, because there are singers, actors and dancers who spend years studing and perfecting their craft, only to be shut out of awesome opportunities. It's no longer about talent, but about what will earn the television stations, movies studios and record labels revenue. While the list of marginally talented individuals who have become "stars' is too numerous to name names here, I think it's time Hollywood changed the way it does business. It would be worth while.

Wednesday Round Up

Letoya Luckett, former member of Destiny's Child is back. The singer has a new cd to be released soon. For all the ladies looking for Mr Right, comic Steve Harvey has a new book out , "Act Like a Lady, Think Like A Man". In the book, Mr Harvey gives the ladies love advice. Check it out. Tuesday Tales

A script written by the late Tupac Shakir while in prison has finally been sold. The script called "Live To Tell', was sold by Afeni Shakir, the rapper's mother. No word yet on when or if it will be turned into a film. Keri Hilson says she was not refering to Ciera on the dis track she recorded. Catch the top 13 perform tonight on "American Idol", along with "CSI on CBS. J. Holiday, U2 and The Dream have new releases in stores this week. On dvd: " Cadillac Records", "Milk" and "Transporter". The funky divas are back! 90's female R&B group Envogue has announced that they have reunited. The ladies will do spot dates across the country in preparation for a world tour to begin in 2010. They will also record a cd and pitch a reality series as well. Catch the premier of "Dancing With The Stars" tonight on ABC along with "House" and "24". Tops at the box office: "Watchmen". Singer Michael Jackson is gearing up for a comeback. The singer announced plans for a upcoming tour of live performances that will begin in London. He also stated that this will be his last tour. Contestant Tatianna got the boot on last night's "American Idol". The judges narrowed the list of hopefulls down to the top thirteen. Catch "Bones" tonight on Fox. In theaters this weekend: "Watchmen". Make it a weekend!

Wednesday Roundup

Rumor has it that there's trouble in paradise for Nas and Kelis. The two are supposedly on the brink of divorce. But that's just a rumor. If you've just about had it with the 50 Cent/Rick Ross beef, try this one on for size. Singers Keri Hilson and Ciera. Reportedly, Ms Hilson makes reference to Ciera in song lyrics. Singer Ne-Yo is reportely being suied for not showing up for a concert in New York. The Jonas Brothers surprised fans by making an appearance at the premier of their new film, "Jonas Brothers, 3D".
