Monday Madness

"Date Night" topped the weekend box office taking in over 27 million dollars. "Clash Of The Titans", "How To Train Your Dragon", "Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?" and "Last Song" round out the top five films of the week. Rapper Nicki Minja has reportedly fired her manager. No word on the reason for the decision. The rapper was to have appeared on a tour with singer Rihanna, but backed out to work on  her album. Sad news out of Hollywood. Actress Dixie Carter, best known for her roles on the sitcoms "Different Strokes" and "Designing Women" has died of cancer. She was 70. Ms Carter provided many with laugh filled moments for many that will not be forgotten. She will be missed. May she rest in peace. Be sure to tune in to the season premiere of "Tiny & Toya" on BET tomorrow at 10:oo pm. The season is sure to be filled with surprises for viewers. You can also check out "Lisa Raye: The Real McCoy" no TV One. Finally, with summer fast approaching it will be interesting to see which films do big business at the box office. Friday Facts

Reportedly rapper Nicki Minja has dropped out of the tour with Rihanna not because she wanted to work on her album as reported, but because Rihanna didn't want to be upstaged by the rapper. According to some, Rihanna's career is on the down slide. We'll see what happens with that. Rihanna has also confirmed that slugger Matt Kemp is indeed her boyfriend. Warner Bros. Records, home to rapper Gucci Mane and others, has filed several copyright infringement lawsuits against several hip hop web sites and blogs claiming they have made mixtapes available for download. coast2coastmixtapes.com is one of the sites the company is threatening with legal action. Warner has made no comment on the suit. Former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight is suing Kanye West over a 2005 shooting that left the mogul wounded. Four years later Knight is suing West and the owners of the Shore Club stating that the club was not able to prevent weapons from being brougth inside the venue. He is seeking 1 million in damages. Thursday Dish

Viewers received quite a surprise on last night's "American Idol" when the judges placed the deciding vote for Michael Lynch. The "Idol" favorite received low votes from viewers before the judges made their final decison. Next week, two contestants will be voted off the hit show. Be sure to tune in for possibly even more surprises before the season ends. Be sure to check out the final seasons of "Lost" and "24" as well. Things are heating up on both shows also. It's a great idea to have both shows end while they are still very good. Rapper/producer Dr Dre has confirmed that the collaboration with Jay Z "Under Pressure" will be released tomorrow. That should be quite interesting. Rapper Nicki Minja has reportedly dropped out of the tour with Rihanna to work on her album. No word on whether she will be replaced. Singers Brandy and Ray J are working on a reality show together for VH1 tentatively called "Family Business". This will be the first time the brother and sister have worked together. Wednesday Roundup

It was Lennon/McCartney night on last night's "American Idol" and tonight the voting results will be revealed. Last night's show was by far one of the best of the season, with all the contestants delivering the goods. We'll see who makes it to the next round tonight. Buzz Aldrin was the second person eliminated from "Dancing With The Stars" last night. We'll see who goes next week. Rapper Kanye West is currently working on a new cd, which is scheduled to be released in June. He has reportedly inlisted the services of Q Tip, Rza and Pete Rock for production. Rapper Drake's long anticipated debut album "Thank Me Later" will be released on June 15 and not May 25, as reported earlier.  The rapper's latest single, "Over" is currently climbing the Billboard charts and he has also started his Home Away From Home Tour. Rapper Trina is ready to release new music as well. The rapper has a cd called "Amazing" ready for release on May 4, tentatively. She is also one of the featured female artists on Ludacris's "Battle Of The Sexes" cd. Actress Nicolette Sheridan is suing the creater of the show "Desperate Housewives" claiming she was assulted when she asked about a script for the hit show. Stay tuned to see  how this pans out. Singer Rihanna is reportedly engaged to slugger Matt Kemp. No word on whether the couple has set a wedding date yet. Rihanna has also announced dates on the US leg of her current tour. Rapper Nicki Minja will join her for the Bad Girls Tour. Meanwhile, due to illness, a date on Whitney Houston's current tour has been cancelled. The embattled singer has faced bad reviews of a show performed in Australia. Rapper/producer Dr Dre has confirmed that he  and rapper Jay Z have put a single together call "Under Pressure'. No word on when the single will be released. The release date of T.I.'s next cd has been pushed back to August. No word on why. Be sure to tune in to Fox's "American Idol" tonight as the contestants perform songs from the John Lennon/Paul McCartney song book. Viewers will then vote on who should be sent home. The last seasons of "Lost" and "24" have proven to be sespense filled and have left fans on the edge of their seats. The film "Iron Man 2" will be released soon and looks to be every bit as good as it's predessor. It will be interesting to see how well it does at the box office when it hits theaters. "Clash Of The Titans" topped the Easter weekend box office taking in over 61 million dollars.  "Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too?", "How To Train Your Dragon", "The Last Song" and "Alice In Wonderland" round out the top five films of the week. Be sure to tune in to "Lisa Raye: The Real McCoy" which will premiere April 8 on VH1. The show will have a behind the scenes look at the actress's life and career. For fans of the show "24" a special two hour episode airs tonight. This will be the final season for the hit show and it promises to be a thrill a minute for all fans. Virginia Beach Police are not amused with a joke played by rapper 50 Cent. Local radio station Z104 announced that the hip hop star would be visiting Mount Trashmore to film a video, causing a frenzy among fans. Local police took to Twitter and Facebook to dispel the rumor. Local police stated that they appreciated that it was a joke, but as a police department, they have to be concerned about crowd control and traffic, even if the whole thing is a hoax. The film verison of the hit 80's series "The A Team" will be released soon, and appears to be a film fans may enjoy. Didi Benami was eliminated from "American Idol" last night, knocking the contestant pool down to nine.  Former winner Ruben Studdard and Usher performed on last night's show. Usher's new artist Justin Bieber also made an appearance as well. Next week the contestants will perform the songs of The Beatles. In other televison news, it looks like the end will soon be near for the Fox series 24.  The latest issue of TV Guide magazine discusses the reasons for the end of the hit series. Rapper LL Cool J is at odds with both Sarah Palin and the Fox network. It appears that the network lifted an interview the rapper did back in 2008 for Palin's new Fox series, giving some the impression he would be a guest on the show. The rapper tweeted about the mishap on Twitter. Fox, of course, responded not to kindly to the rapper's remarks. Singer Janet Jackson in addition to starring in "Why Did I Get Married Too", will also appear at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans in July. Mary J. Blige and Alicia Keys will also appear on the show as well. Be sure to check out the big screen version of "The A Team" when the film is released.  It appears from the trailor that the film will be full of nonstop action.
