Friday Facts
Incarcerated music mogul James "Henchman" Roseman revealed that Wyclef Jean has received several thousand dollars from him. According to Roseman, as much as $60,000 may have been transfered to companies Jean controlled. So far, no response from Jean, so stay tuned. Rihanna welcomed new Rock Nation signee M.I.A. into the fold recently by taking to Twitter to congratulate her. Rumors persist that Jennifer Lopez will be leaving "American Idol" soon. Another rumor circulating is that British star Cheryl Cooks will be Lopez' replacement, although this hasn't been confirmed. In other "Idol"news, the eleventh season finale was the lowest rated in the program's history. Hopefully ratings will improve next season. Things are not well with TLC member T Boz. Her 2005 Honda has been repossessed. The singer has had to file bankruptcy. No word on a court date. At any rate, here's hoping things get better for the singer soon. Congratulations to rapper Lil Wayne are in order. The Young Money CEO will become a father again soon. This will be his fifth child. In other Lil Wayne news, he's started a Twitter beef of sorts between himself and Pusha T. He took to Twitter to let his feelings be known about Pusha T and those who support him. As I've mentioned previously, rap beefs are silly and don't effect fans bases. Grow up guys. The 1979 classic "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang will be inducted into the Library of Congress. Other entries include Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" and Prince's soundtrack to his 1984 film "Purple Rain". Speaking of Twitter beefs, rapper Lupe Fiasco and legendary producer Pete Rock got into a Twitter spat of their own recently after Lupe released a new single "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)", which sampled the 1992 classic "T.R.O.Y.(They Reminisce Over You". The song was a tribute to Troy Dixon, a friend and member of icon rap group Heavy D. & The Boys. Pete took to Twitter to let his feelings be known about Lupe's single, saying the producers should be ashamed of themselves. However, in a press release, Pete said that he and Lupe worked out their differences over the phone. Lupe had a different story to tell during an interview with Sway, saying he and his crew were hot over the Twitter remarks. He even went as far as to criticize Rock for not apologizing for his statement. He also clarified that he and his producers re-worked the song because they were told that the original version of the song was impossible to clear with publishers. Busta Rhymes will headline the 8th Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. Being that the MC has recorded with Chris Brown, Janet Jackson and others, the show should be filled with pleasant surprises. The festival will include a film festival, an after party and a tribute to Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who died of cancer on May 4. In theaters this weekend: "Men In Black 3" and "Chernobyl Diaries". On the tube: "Kitchen Nightmares" on Fox, ""Undercover Boss" on CBS, "Shark Tank" on ABC and "Who Do You Think You Are?" on NBC. Make it a weekend!
