Monday Memo
The film "Monsters University" topped the weekend box office, earning over $80 million. "World War Z", "Man Of Steel", "This Is The End" and "Now You See Me" round out the top five films of the week. A suspect in the shooting death of Meek Mill protégé Lil Snupe has been identified. An arrest warrant has been issued for 36-year-old Tony Holden. Holden shot the 18-year-old rapper outside a Louisiana apartment complex reportedly over a video game. Singer Rihanna has been all over web site Instagramm lately posting photos and the like. Only time will tell what the star will do next. Just two weeks in advance of it's release date, rapper Jay Z gave fans a view of the track list for his album "Magna Carta Holy Grail" via a scavenger hunt. Fans received a booklet with a track listing, which included lyrics and features. "Magana Carta Holy Grail" will hit stores July 4. In other Jay Z news, despite the deal with Samsung mobile in which the cell phone provider purchased millions of copies of the album to give to its subscribers, it won't count in terms of sales because the albums will be given free of charge. Billboard laid out guidelines in a letter from the Editor posted online. The letter stated that its role as the chart of record is to set the rules, and maybe even raise the level of play. "Magna Carta Holy Grail" is now available for download and will hit stores on July 4. Despite the setback, Hova is expected to take first place. Label sources put first week sales at 400,000 to 450,000, enough to earn the 43-year-old his first 13th number one album. To follow up the epic 3-minute commercial seen during the 2013 NBA Finals, Samsung has unveiled its new "Magna Carta" commercial, "40 More", a 30 second spot with Jay and Justin Timberlake.
