Monday Memo

The animated film "Megamind" topped the weekend box office, earning over $47 million dollars. "Due Date" "For Colored Girls", "Red" and "Saw 3D" round out the top five films of the week. Rapper Lil Wayne was released from prison on Friday, as most fans know, and he hasn't let any grass grow under his feet. Weezy took the stage at a Drake concert on Saturday and did his verse on "Miss Me". His latest album "I am Not A Human Being" is still burning up the charts. In other Lil Wayne news, the New Orleans native was sentenced to 36 months probation by a Arizona judge as part of a plea deal to avoid jail time for a 2008 incident where police found drugs on his tour bus. He must also complete 300 hours of community service, which he will reportedly complete in Miami where he now lives. A judge has dismissed a $10 million trademark infringment lawsuit against rapper Rick Ross. Some will recall that drug kingpin Freeway Rick Ross filed the suit against the rapper, Def Jam Records and Universial  Music Group, claiming that they illegally profitted from his name. Jay Z was named in the suit as well because he was president of the company at the time of Ross' signing. Filed in United States District Court for Los Angeles, the suit accused the rapper of infringing upon Ross' intellectual properties by using the moniker to promote his music. The basis of the suit is what had the case dismissed. Katherine Jackson, mother of the late Michael Jackson, will appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" today to discuss life after the star's death. The show will also include a sit down with the star's children. Actor Russell Crowe has a action adventure film in the works called "The Next Three Days". The film will be released later this month. On the tube: "House" on Fox, "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS, "Dancing With The Stars" on ABC and "Matt Lauer Reports" on NBC. Happy Monday!
