Monday Memo

"Rango" topped the weekend box office earning over $38 million dollars at the box office. "The Adjustment Bureau", "Beastly", "Hall Pass" and "Gnomeo & Juliet" round out the top five films of the week. Kanye West and Suge Knight have finally settle a lawsuit from a few years back. Suge Knight initially sued West after reportedly being shot at a party West hosted for the Video Music Awards. Knight claimed that he lost a $130,000 earring and had to pay over $100,000 in medical expenses. In other Kanye West news, the rapper's video for his single "Monster" has been banned by MTV after special interest groups claimed that the clip glorifies violence against women. The internet was buzzing over the weekend after a picture of singer Chris Brown in the buff was posted on social networking site Twitter. Brown, of course, tweeted a response to the photograph being leaked. The Tyler Perry film "For Colored Girls" was a big winner at the "NAACP Image Awards". John Legend, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Willow Smith and Usher all picked up awards at the annual event held in Los Angeles. The show was hosted by Holly Robinson Peete and Wayne Brady. Singer Phil Collins confirmed that he is taking time off to recuperate from hand surgery, but definitely not retiring any time soon. The singer suffered nerve damage in his left hand and had surgery to correct the problem. Singer/songwriter/producer The Dream has formed a partnership to manufacture his own line of speakers. The speakers will reportedly cost around $150 each. No word on when the speakers will hit the market. The cast of the next "Dancing With The Stars" has been announced, and Kendra Wilkinson, Romeo, Wendy Williams and Kirsty Alley will be among those hitting the dance floor for the grand prize. No word on when the new season starts. On the tube: "House" on Fox, "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS, "The Bachelor: The Women Tell All" on ABC and "The Event" on NBC. Happy Monday!
