Monday Memo
The film "Puss in Boots" topped the weekend box office earning over $30 million. "Paranormal Activity 3", "In Time", "Footloose" and "The Rum Diary" round out the top five films of the week. Rapper Gucci Mane will not be released from jail early after all. The rapper's attorney filed a motion for early release, which was denied. This stems from an incident a while ago where the rapper tossed a woman from his vehicle after she rejected his sexual advances. His attorney asked that the rapper's sentence be shortened in exchange for a benefit concert on behalf of the DeKalb County Batter Women's Shelter. The judge rejected the offer. In addition, the rapper has been hit with a civil suit by the victim in the case. The rapper will have to serve his full sixth-month sentence for battery. Here's hoping he stays out of trouble upon his release. Fox television is bringing back the late 1990's comedy hit "In Living Color". Fans will recall the show starred Damon Wayans, Jamie Fox, Jim Carey and Jennifer Lopez was one of the dancing Fly Girls. It would be great if the network could get the entire original cast back together for the new show. There's been no word on when the show will air, however. Without question, rapper T.I. has been hard at work on promoting his new book, "Power & Beauty". He would also love to work with Outkast's Andre 3000. During a recent interview, Tip stated he sent a track to the star to see how he felt about working with him on it. He would also like to do more acting via "Lethal Weapon" or "Bad Boys" and is currently working on a sequel to "Power & Beauty". In addition, he's also planning a relationship book with his wife Tiny. He's certainly keeping himself busy. You never know when opportunity will come knocking. During an interview with bet.com, Bad Boy Records newcomer Machine Gun Kelly took a call from fellow hip hop rookie ASAP Rocky that may lay the groundwork for a collaboration between the two . It seems the two have a mutual respect and admiration for one another and made plans to hit the studio together in the near future. Although nothing's definite as yet, fans should buckle up for what's to come. Some fans may know that Madonna will take the stage at the 2012 Superbowl halftime show. What some may not know is that she'll be bringing some guest with her. It seems Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. will join the Material Girl to perform a song called "Give Me All Your Love". The track, which features all three ladies, will be the lead single from Madonna's as-yet-untitled 12th studio album. Madonna and her fellow female pop stars will take the stage at Super Bowl XLVI on February 5, 2012, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. 990's hip hop group Naughty By Nature will release a new CD for the group's 20th anniversary. The album, titled "Anthem Inc.", will be hit stores on December 6. The album features re-recordings of their classics "O.P.P." and "Hip Hop Hooray". In addition, the first single "Perfect Party" will feature R&B star Joe. The group's mentor Queen Latifah will guest on the album as well. This is the first album to feature all three members since 1999's "Nineteen Naughty Nine: Nature's Fury". It's sure to be a treat for all time fans. After several weeks of silence, rapper Rick Ross finally release several tweets letting fans know he's doing well by saying he's doing better than he ever was and is richer than he ever was. Welcome back Bawse. The competition continues on "Dancing With The Stars" and "The X Factor" as well. The contestants have been bringing the heat, and it remains to be seen who will walk away with the grand prize. On the tube: "Terra Nova" on Fox, "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS, "Dancing With The Stars" on ABC and "The Sing-Off" on NBC. Happy Monday!
