Wednesday Roundup
Sad news out of Hollywood. Actor Sherman Hemsley, best known for his role as George Jefferson on the iconic 70's sitcom "The Jeffersons", has died. He was 74. He was found by his nurse, who assumed he was sleeping, until she realized something was wrong and called for help. Hemsley also starred as Deacon Ernest Frye on the hit show "Amen". His legacy will live on. More sad news. Actor Chad Everett, star of the 70's show "Medical Center", died after a bout with cancer. He was 75. His legacy will live on. The Jackson family drama gets stranger. Janet, Randy and Jermaine Jackson followed brother Michael's children to the home Katherine Jackson is renting. Reportedly, the Jackson siblings attempted to force the children into a waiting SUV. Video footage has surfaced of Janet getting into a tussle with Paris Jackson. Meanwhile, audio of brother Marlon has surfaced, and it appears he doesn't know where mother Katherine is. Adding to the saga, a court appointed attorney has asked that guardianship of the children be taken from Katherine Jackson since she's in Arizona and hasn't spoken to the children. At any rate, let's hope everything is settled soon. Singer/actress Jennifer Hudson has learned the fate of the man who killed her mother, brother and nephew. William Balfor has been sentenced to three consecutive life sentences, plus 120 years for the murders. Rapper Nas has earned the top spot on the Billboard charts with his new album "Life Is Good". During a recent interview, he also discussed finding love again after a divorce from singer Kelis, with whom he has a son. He says he wants to find happiness in marriage again, although it's difficult for someone in his position. One thing he can celebrate is the fact that his album sold 139,000 copies. It's his sixth to land at #1. After nearly 20 years and 11 albums in the rap game, West Coast rap icon Snoop Dogg is looking for a new direction. He's announced plans to release an album of reggae songs under the alias Snoop Lion and will give fans a taste with the single "Lalala". Produced by Diplo's dancehall fusion outfit Major Lazer, "Lalala" finds the Dogfather singing along to a chilled-out reggae groove. While he's been written off as a joke, he's created social media accounts to go along with the persona. He's even begun locking his signature plaited mane. Snoop Lion's debut album doesn't have a release date. Rumors continue to swirl regarding singer Mary J. Blige and her husband Keandu Isaacs. Rumor has it that Isaacs has been cheating with Blige's labelmate, although that hasn't been confirmed. To make matters worse, reportedly Isaacs' behavior has Blige drowning her sorrows in the bottle. Here's hoping things work out for the two. On the tube: "So You Think You Can Dance" on Fox, "Big Brother" on CBS, "The Middle" on ABC and "CLIOS: World's Best Commericals" on NBC. Happy hump day!
