Monday Memo
The film "Warm Bodies" topped the weekend box office, earning over $20 million dollars. "Hansel & Gretel:: Witch Hunters", "Silver Linings Playbook", "Mama" and "Zero Dark Thirty" round out the top five films of the week. The Destiny's Child reunion rumors were true. Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams did join Beyonce for a mini Destiny's Child reunion during her Superbowl halftime performance. The ladies each looked gorgeous and gave an electrifying performance as they did a medley of their hits. Beyonce later gave an equally electrifying solo performance, driving the crowd into a frenzy. Singer Jennifer Hudson and students from Sandy Hook Elementary performed a rendition of "America The Beautiful". Singer Alicia Keys performed "The Star Bangled Banner". Singer Frank Ocean's producer has confirmed that Chris Brown did indeed throw the first punch during the recent brawl between the two. The fight began over a parking spot at a Los Angeles recording studio. According to the producer, a member of Ocean's entourage approached Brown regarding the spot, then minutes later, a member of Brown's entourage threw a punch and the fight begun. Brown, meanwhile and a member of his entourage cornered Ocean, where they began to beat him. Ocean says he doesn't intend to press any charges against Brown. He says he just wants some peace in his life. Singer Justin Timberlake wasn't allowed to perform at the Superbowl after the debacle with Janet Jackson. He did, however, perform at a Superbowl party and was joined by rapper Jay Z to perform his latest single. It was his first performance in five years. He has a new album due out soon. Photographers should probably be careful when approaching rapper Lil Wayne. While attending the Superbowl, the rapper cursed a photographer out when he grabbed his arm as Weezy was passing by. The whole incident was caught on tape. Rappers beware, keep the Simmons name out of your raps. Taking a que from baby brother Diggy, JoJo Simmons released a diss track targeting rapper Juelz Santana after Santana name dropped him on the mixtape single "Soft". Simmons immediately went into the studio to release the vicious response to the diss. Fans will recall that brother Diggy went into the studio and recorded "What You Say To Me", in response to rapper J. Cole's name drop of him on "Grew Up Fast", in addition to rapper his older sister Vanessa Simmons on the track "Purple Rain". It's safe to say that it's not a good idea mess with these guys. On the tube: "Bones" on Fox, "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS, "The Bachelor" on ABC and "The Biggest Loser" on NBC. Happy Monday!
