Friday Facts
Singer Chris Brown has been released from rehab to perform community service hours in connection with the assault on former girlfriend Rihanna. He will continue treatment on an outpatient basis. In addition, Brown has reportedly begun designing a collection of backpacks. No word on when they'll hit the marketplace. Singer/actress Jennifer Hudson was recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Chicago native was honored for her work in music. Hudson was joined by her fiance David Otunga Sr. and the couple's young son. Music executive Clive Davis also attended the ceremony and said he didn't sign Hudson initially, but after seeing her screen test for the film "Dreamgirls", for which she won a Academy Award, he decided to sign her. After the ceremony, Hudson posted a picture on Instagram with a caption that read, "Just got my star on #TheWalkOf Fame!!. Such an honor". Hudson has a musical in the works titled. "Black Nativity", which opens Nov. 27 and a third studio album due out next year. British singer Lily Allen's new single, "Hard Out Here" is inciting a response she likely didn't expect. Allen, who is known for blunt lyrics, pokes fun at pop culture and female objectification on the track, but the it's the music video that's receiving racial backlash. The video features Allen surrounded by a group of scantily clan predominately black dancers who gyrate and ever twerk as she sings. Allen maintains that the casting and wardrobe choices weren't meant to be racially offensive, via a tweet titled "Privilege, Superiority and Misconceptions". Allen has refused to apologize for the video. The backlash seems to have served Allen will. The "Hard Out Here" video has been viewed more than two million times since being posted on Monday. In theaters this weekend: "The Best Man Holiday", which is the sequel to the 1999 film "The Best Man". On the tube: "Bones" on Fox, "Undercover Boss" on CBS, "Last Man Standing" on ABC and "Dateline NBC" on NBC. Make it a weekend!
