Monday Memo

The film "New Year's Eve" topped the weekend box office, earning over $13 million dollars. "The Sitter", "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt 1", "The Muppets" and "Arthur Christmas" round out the top five films of the week. Rapper Lil Wayne, who happens to be on probation, reportedly got into a scuffle with a South African rapper. It all began when the two MC's showed up at the same club and the South African rapper allegedly threw the first punch. Meanwhile, Lil Wayne was named by Billboard magazine the number one Hip Hip/R&B artist. Labelmate Nicki Minaj came in at number two, while Rihanna made the list at number three. Jay Z was number four and Kanye West rounded out the top five at number five. Speaking of Kanye West, it's rumored that both he and Jay Z will work on upcoming solo albums, and then work on another collaboration album. Can anyone say "Watch The Throne 2"? It's sure to be a delight for fans. Former G-Unit member 40 Glock will now serve time. The rapper reportedly chocked a girlfriend for allegedly "playing him". The authorities were called and charges were pressed. It's unclear how much time the rapper will serve. Rapper Gucci Mane has made a deal with a woman regarding her 4-year-old child. Now that it's been proven Gucci is the child's father, he will pay child support and receive visitation rights. Here's hoping the rapper does the right thing. Children should never be used as pawns by parents. Old fans of the hip hop group Digable Planets will be happy to know that the group is currently planning a comeback. The group, which released the album "Reachin ( A Refutation Of Time And Space), then "Blowout Comb" in 1994, is looking to make a comeback next year. It's unclear when an album will be released. Rapper Lil Kim is planning a comeback as well. The Queen Bee is currently working on an EP and a book about life before and after serving a one year prison sentence for purgery. The petite rapper says she's been in the studio with producers like Timberland. As fans know, the rapper served a one year prison sentence in 2005 for lying about her knowledge of a shooting outside a New York City radio station. The shooting allegedly involved her entourage and the entourage of rap rival Foxy Brown. At any rate, it's great to see the Queen Bee has gotten her life and career back on track. Black Star fans will be happy to know that the group is possibly planning to release a new album. The group performed two shows in New York City, joined the Rock The Bells lineup this past summer, debuted two new tracks and announced plans for an Aretha Franklin inspired mixtape. The group's manager stated in an interview that the group will be heading to Africa to record some new material, but didn't say that an album is imminent. One can only hope. On the tube: "Terra Nova" on Fox, "2 Broke Girls" on CBS, "I Want A Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown" on ABC and "Fear Factor" on NBC. Happy Monday!
