Monday Memo

"Dr Seuss's The Lorex" topped the weekend box office earning over $70 million dollars. "Project X", "Act Of Valor", "Safe House" and "Tyler Perry's Good Deeds" round out the top five films of the week. Rapper Young Buck is blessed to be alive. The rapper's SUV as shot at eleven times in Nashville TN. He was not harmed.  A female passenger was shot in the shoulder. She was taken to a hospital and treated and released. Police have no suspects in the case at this time.  According to Gossip This, Tina Brown, sister of singer Bobby Brown, is the one who leaked the photo of singer Whitney Houston in her casket. She reportedly did cocaine with the singer, and conducted an interview with the National Enquirer as well. She also took a photo of the singer's bathroom some time back, which reportedly showed drugs in the room. So far, there's been no response from Houston's family regarding the matter. Rapper Tyler, The Creator is paying for a raucous night he had at a Hollywood club back in December. The Odd Future front man lost his cool during a show at The Roxy and damaged the club's pricey sound equipment. The rapper was arrested for vandalism, which caused a near riot outside the club. As part of an apology, the rapper has agreed to cough up $8,000 to cover damages. With that squared away, the rapper is now set to meet with the District Attorney's office, who want the shock MC to pay for investigation costs incurred by West Hollywood Sheriff's Department. Once the payment is made, all charges will be dropped. A musical featuring the music of late rap legend Tupac Shakur will now go on as planned with the stamp of approval of his mother, Afeni Shakur. Producers of the musical "Holler If You Hear Me" presented Ms Shakur with a rough preview of the musical, hoping it would meet her approval. She was "ecstatic" after the screening. The musical, from director Kenny Leon, an African-American veteran who previously helmed "Driving Miss Daisy" and 2004's "A Raisin In The Sun" revival starring Sean Combs, "Holler If You Hear Me" is not based on Tupac's life. Instead, it uses the late rapper's music as the backdrop of the story of two childhood friends growing up in a Midwestern city. Casting for the musical could begin as early as next week. Robin Thicke, Lionel Richie and others are slated to appear on NBC's "The Voice" as mentors. Be sure to tune in. On the tube: "Alcatraz" on Fox, "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS, "The Bachelor" on ABC and "The Voice" on NBC. Happy Monday!
