Friday Facts

It's been confirmed that Ellen DeGeneres is leaving the Fox show"American Idol". A grueling schedule is being given as the reason for the departure. On the heels of DeGeneres leaving, it's also being  reported that Kara DioGuardi has been fired from the show. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are said to be replacements for the two. Fox has not yet confirmed this, however, and we'll have to wait and see what happens next. "Real Housewives Of Atlanta" star Lisa Wu Hartwell is reportedly leaving the show.  The star didn't like the changes producers requested she make, so she decided to leave. No word on a replacement. Rapper Foxy Brown is at it again. The femcee got into a brawl outside a New York City night spot, but left the scene before the police arrived. She has not been arrested yet. There's been no comment on the matter. Rapper T.I recently gave some junior high school students gifts they are not likely to forget. They all got lap tops. As mentioned previously, the Emmy Awards are a few weeks away and only time wil tell who the big winners will be. Be sure to tune in to the broadcast on August 27. Rapper Common is flexing his acting musules by taking a role as a freed slave on a televison series. No word on a series title or premiere date.Singer Rihanna is reportedly gearing up to tackle the big screen as well. No word on a film or televison series or premiere date. If you've been wonderding where he is, wonder no more. Rapper Kanye West is back. Back on Twitter that is. The rapper recently reopened his Twitter account and has acttracted over a million followers. He's been giving fans up dates on his next cd and everything else he's been working on. Rapper Eminem's "Recovery" is number one on the Billboard charts for the fifth week in a row. Rapper Rick Ross is at number two with his latest "Teflon Don". Be sure to pick up both cd's at your local music store. Rumor has that R&B group Jagged Edge is back. The group is reportedly working on a new cd to be released soon. No word on a release date. Actress Juila Roberts is preparing the release of her latest film "Eat, Pray, Love", which will hit theaters soon. The film is a feel good drama that is sure to delight the actress's fans. It's getting down to the wire on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance", and the guys are really heating up the competition. Only time will tell which contestant will win the grand prize. The Emmy Awards will air soon and Fox's "Glee" has run away with a record nineteen nominations. It remains to be seen whether the show will win all nineteen, however. The show will air on August 27 on NBC. It's been a mixed bag for summer films this season. There have been some box office hits and quite a few misses as well. It's only a matter of time before we seen what the remainder of the season has in store. Quite a few televison hits will be returning this fall and among them are: NCIS: Los Angeles and "Grey's Anatomy". It will be interesting to see what the fall televison season has in store for fans. Atlantic Records has delayed the release of rapper Lupe Fiasco's latest cd for over a year now. A internet war of words has begun between the Chicago MC and a representative of his label. The rep blames the delay on Lupe's temper, not lack of ability to create hits. Lupe responded by saying the rep should use his own adivce to further his own career. Rapper Kanye West is facing a lawsuit from little known producer Vince P. for copyright infringment. The producer claims West stole the lyrics of his hit song "Stronger" from him. The producer stated in a recent interview that he gave one of his songs also called "Stronger" to John Monopoly, a Kanye West manager at the time. He noted the similarities of both songs. Reps for Kanye West have not commented on the matter. "American Idol" season three winner and runner up Ruben Studdard and Clay Akien are hitting the concert trail together. The two will perform solo and do duets during the show as well. Catch them when they appear in your area. Legal woes for rapper Foxy Brown continue. The rapper reportedly had a confrentation with a neighbor and was charged with battery. The Brooklyn MC was scheduled to appear in court yesterday, but her attorney quit. Stay tuned. Supermodel Heidi Klum says season 8 of her Lifetime reality series "Project Runway" is ready. There will be more surprises along with a slew of hot fashions from several designers. Rapper DMX recently completed a jail term for probation violation and it appears he will return. The rapper surrendered to Los Angeles authorities on a traffic violation from a few years back. He'd like to take care of any outstanding legal matters and go on with his life. Stay tuned. Rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs is being sued by the city of New York. The music mogul has, according to the lawsuit, illegally put up promo posters of his flagship establishment, Bad Boy Entertaiment, throughout the city which has resulted in a 996,000 bill that has yet to be paid. The city's Financial Commissioner, David Frankel, is after Diddy and other residents for a debt totaling $1.9 billion. Remy Ma and Doug E. Fresh are being investigated as well. A Bad Boy representative stated that the bill was paid three year ago by a partner company,but the city failed to update the record. Legal reps for the city are reviewing the issue. 90's R&B group Dru Hill is back with their latest cd, "InDRUpendence Day". After a long hiatus and adding a new member,the group is on the comback trail with their trademark harmonies intact. Sony Pictures has confirmed that actor Daniel Craig will star in "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". He will play a journalist who teams with the lead character. The lead character has not been cast. No word on when shooting will begin or when the film will be released. Speculation is still brewing regarding who will replace Simon Cowell on "American Idol". Several names have been mentioned, among them, Justing Timberlake and Elton John. Nothing's been confirmed as yet. On dvd: "Clash of the Titans" and "Ip Man". Monday Memo

"Inception" topped the weekend box office once again, taking in over 42 million dollars. "Salt", "Despicable Me", "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and "Toy Story 3" round out the top five films of the week. Rapper/producer Dr Dre is being sued by Paramount Studios. According to court documents, the produer used the studio to record his latest album, but did not pay studio rental fees. Representatives of Dr Dre have not commented on the suit. The divorce drama between singer Christina Milan and singer/songwriter/producer the Dream continues. It appears the producer had the singer sign a document stating that she could not receive any assests, meanwhile the singer maintains that the two were together when he claims they broke up. Stay tuned for more as it develops. New Edition members Ralph Tresvant, Bobby Brown and Johnny Gill have formed  their own group and are touring the country. Be sure to catch them when they appear in your area. Auditions were held in New Orleans today for season ten of Fox's "American Idol". Thousands of hopefuls lined up to show the judges what their made of and viewers  will see who made it to Hollywood when the show returns this fall. Fans of the "Fast and Furious" franchise will be happy to know that another installement of the hit film is in the works. Vin Diesal, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Paul Wheeler will all return for the next film. No word on when shooting will begin or when the film will be released. With his debut cd still riding the charts, rapper Drake is reportedly working on his next project. No word on a name or release date for the project. Jazz singer Al Jarreau was hospitalized in France after running in to breathing problems that caused him to cancel at least four concerts. The 70-year-old fell ill before a concert in the French town of Barcelonnette and was brought into the intensive care unit in the city of Gap, the hospital stated Friday. The Grammy Award winning singer was conscious and breathing without assistance, but was still in intensive care receiving treatment for breathing problems, said Maurice Marchetti, deputy director of the hospital. The singer's condition seems to be stablizing and he hopes to perform again on Thursday in Nuremberg Germany. Two female artist who found fame in the 1980's have recently penned their memoirs recounting their experiences. Pat Bentar, who won several Grammys and sold over 22 millions records, published "Between A Heart And A Rock Place". Belinda Carlise, who was lead singer of all female rock group The Go Gos, published "Lips Unsealed". Both books reveal both singers highs and lows in the music industry. The books are available now. Actress Paula Patton has inked a deal to join the cast of "Law & Order: SVU" as a district attorney. No word on when she will make her first appearance on the show. Rumor has it that former Destiny's Child member Letoya Luckett will replace singer Keyshia Cole as the spokesperson for Luster Products. Ms Cole was due to renegoate her contract but couldn't come to an agreement with the company on salary. Rock-A-Fella CEO Damon Dash has made some not so flattering comments regarding former partner rapper Jay Z.  He's likened the split with Hova and some of the label's artist to being stabbed in the back. If you've been wondering where singer Jahiem has been , wonder no more. The crooner has new music in stores and should be touring to promote his latest project. Be sure to pick up a copy of the latest issue of Jet magazine featuring singer Kelis on the cover. The singer discusses her split from husband Nas, rumors and her new music. Actress Emily Bergl is nearing the completion of a deal to join the cast of ABC's "Desperate Housewives". She will play Paul's wife. No word on when she will make her first appearance on the show. The competition is getting down to the wire on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance". Fans of the hit BET reality series "Tiny & Toya" will be disappointed to know that the show has been cancelled and will not return. However, rumor has it that a spin off of the series featuring Toya Carter, ex-wife of rapper Lil Wayne, may premiere soon. BET has neither confirmed nor denied the rumor. More hopefuls auditioned for season ten of Fox's "American Idol" in Milwaulkee today. You'll see who made the grade when the show returns this fall. Several hit shows have seasons released on dvd. Be sure to pick up your favorites at your local video store. The family of late mobster John Gotti is not pleased with rapper Rick Ross deciding to name his latest cd, "Teflon Don". The grandson of the mobster who aquired the nickname for his ability to beat cases in the 1980's, was quoted as saying that Ross should just be himself. Gotti died in prison of throat cancer. Several dates on the "American Idols Live" tour have been cancelled and others rescheduled due to low ticket sales. Ratings for the Fox hit have taken a nose dive in recent years, but there has been no confirmation whether that is the reason for the low ticket sales. The summer movie season rolls along with the release of Angelina Jolie's latest film "Salt". It's an action adventure film filled with one surprise after another. Singer Alicia Keys has confirmed that she is engaged to producer Swizz Beatz and it's also rumored that the two will tie the knot this weekend. No time or location has been mentioned. In other news, Keys has also announced that she and her management firm, MBK Entertainment, have restructured their business arrangement. MBK  and it's CEO, Jeff Robinson, will continue to collaborate and produce future albums through MBK/J Records with Ms Keys, while she will oversees all other aspects of her career. MBK Entertainment has been with Ms Keys since she was a teenager, guiding every facet of her career from her mulit-platinum albums, to films and branding opportunities. The split was amicable. Rapper Lil Kim took a few swipes at Foxy Brown and Nicki Minaj and also mentioned a bad business deal with New Orleans rap label Cash Money Records during a recent interview with AOL. She also took time to reassure her fans that she's back to claim her spot. Rocker Sheryl Crow is back with a new cd "100 Miles From Memphis", referring to her hometown. She and pop star Justin Timberlake cover Terrance Trent Darby's "Sign Your Name" on the disc. Be sure to pick up a copy. The stars walked the red carpet for the premiere of "Dinner for Schmucks" in New York City.  No word on the films release date. Over 16,000 hopefuls showed up to audition for the tenth season of  Fox's "American Idol" in Nashville TN. The show's ratings have slipped recently, but only time wil tell if producers have finally found what will win back viewers. Country fans should be on the lookout for Easton Corbin. The singer has an easy-going old-school style. The 28-year old Northern rural Florida native recently topped the country charts with his debut single, "A little More Country Than That". Be sure to pick up his debut cd. It's been confirmed that singer/songwriter/producer the Dream and singer Christina Milan have split up after over a year of marriage. The two have a daughter together. Best wishes to both. It's been confirmed that actor Michael Ealy will join the cast of CBS's "The Good Wife". He will play Derrick Bond, the head of a DC firm that will merge with Will and Diane's cash strapped outfit. He will appear in ten episodes of the shows upcoming second season. It's been confirmed that alleged Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Uchitel, Jeremy London, Jason Wahler, Leif Garrett, Janice Dickinson, Frankie Lons, mother of singer Keyshia Cole and Jason Davis will appear on the fourth season of VH1's realilty series "Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew". With his debut cd still riding the charts, rapper Drake is reportedly at work on his next project. No word on the name or release date for the disk at press time. Add Lil Wayne to the list of rappers who owe money to Uncle Sam. According to the Detroit News, the IRS recently filed a 1.13 million lien against Wayne, according to Florida court records. Wayne owes taxes for 2004, 2005 and 2007. The lien marks the second time the New Orleans rapper faced tax trouble. The IRS filed a lien against Wayne two years prior. Wayne paid if off in August 2008. In other related news, Wayne will be released from prison in November. West coast rap legend Too Short was arrested in Idaho for battery. According to police reports, the rapper kicked, punched and pushed employees at the Knitting Factory nightclub after he was told he could not bring underage girls backstage into his dressing room. Although none of the employees were hurt, Too Short and an associate were taken into custody and released after posting bail. The two are due in court August 4. The release date of singer Kelly Rowland's next album has been pushed back from September to fall. No reason has been given for the change. Auditions for the tenth season of Fox's "American Idol" were held today, with thousands of hopefuls lining up to for an opportunity to appear on the hit show. He's says the two may have him retire before the age of 30. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj has announced that the release date for her debut project will be November 23. No name for the project has been determined yet. Rapper Eminem's latest release "Recovery" remains in the number one spot on the charts for the third week in row. This surpasses his last release "Relapse". Actor Ryan Reynolds will star in next summer's highly anticipated film "Green Lantern". Grammy Award winning singer Mary J. Blige along with production team The Clutch are being sued by Kim Jones and Jay Ballard over the track "Take Me As Iam". The pair have named Blige and The Clutch in the lawsuit, claiming they stole the duo's song of the same name which was released in 1995. Blige used it on her 2005 cd, "The Breadthrough". According to court documents, which were filed in United States District Court in the Central District of California, the duo is seeking royalties for singles and albums sold in all formats. They're also seeking accounting of publishing income from the songs usage in several advertisments. Reps for Mary J. Blige and The Clutch have not responded to the lawsuit. Rapper Rocka Flocka's entourage are being investigated by Ohio police detectives after an unidentified woman filed a complaint stated that she was sexually assaulted on Waka's tour bus. Monday morning (July 12) authorities received the complaint after Waka's performance at Cleveland hip hop radio station WENZ HOT 107.9's Summer Jam. Police received a call around 3:00 am after the woman got off the tour bus on Ohio's Interstate 77. Lt Rick Edwards told the Cleveland Plain Dealer, "We have an upset woman, but nothing's been determined yet". Waka's legal representatives have yet to comment on the matter. Actor Leonardo DiCaprio walked the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of his latest film "Inception". The film is a sure winner that should not be missed. Rapper Lil Wayne's moment in the spotlight will not diminish. The rapper, who is locked away on Riker's Island on gun charges, will release his next project on his birthday, September 27. The project tentitively titled "I'm Not A Human Being", will be a low-profile release and have a bigger roll out around Christmas. R&B singer Ne-Yo and his booking agency are being sued by a Maryland concert promoter over the singer's failure to appear at a 2008 New Years Eve concert in Washington state. The lawsuit is scheduled to go to trial later this month in Anne Arundel County, where his booking agent, Mike Esterman is based. Kenyohn Clark's suit seeks 1 million dollars in damages from the singer and Esterman. Clark claims the botched concert damaged his reputation and that Esterman refused to return a $95,000 deposit. The lawsuit also claims there is no excuse for Ne-Yo not appearing at the Bellevue WA show. Ne-Yo's attorney, John Scaldara says he believes the singer will win the lawsuit. It was announced that actor Ed Norton won't reprise his role as The Hulk in the upcoming "Avengers" film. Marvel president Kevin Feige announed on Saturday that the studio will replace Norton with an actor "who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirity of our other talented cast  memebers". The actor took to social networking site Facebook to apologize to fans and thank them for their support. Emmy award winning actress Sela Ward has been tapped to replace Melina Kanakaredes on "C.S.I.: New York" this fall. She will make her first appearance the beginning of season seven of the hit series. Singer Rihanna has cancelled three more dates on her current tour. It's been rumored that the cancelled dates are due to low ticket sales, but the offical reason given was so that the singer could complete work on a new album. Rapper Snoop Dog is being sued by a former member of jazz great Miles Davis' band for copyright infringment. The musician claims the rapper sampled a Miles Davis song without permission. Representatives for Snoop Dog have not commented on the suit. Rocker Brett Michaels has new music in the works and plans to tour to promote the project. Fans will recall the singer suffered a brain hemerrage and later had a stroke. The singer is doing well and ready to hit the concert trail. Be sure to catch the film "Inception" starring Leonardo DiCaprio when it hits your local cineplex. The film is part sci-fi fantasy, part gun-toting heist pic and will keep you on the edge of your seat. ABC's "Good Morning America" summer concert series has backed out of booking Grammy nominated rapper Drake due to security issues the NYC's Park Department could not handle. The NYPD explained to the Park Department that a certain level of security would be needed in order for the concert to move forward. An ABC spokesperson stated that "Good Morning American" was interested in book Drake, but nothing had been confirmed.  The extra security precaution is a result of Drake's last outdoor outing at Manhattan's South Street Seaport where concert goers started a mini riot when they learned Drake would not perform.City officals canceled the event due to the unexpected outcome of the free show. Reps for Drake have not commented on ABC canceling the performance. Rapper 50 Cent has issued a Twitter petition against Bad Boy Records mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs urging users not to support Diddy's exploitation of late rapper Christopher "Notorious B.I.G." Wallace. The G Unit  head  honcho feels Combs is tarnishing the legacy of Christopher Wallace and is asking fans to speak up. Diddy's reps have not responded to 50's Twitter petition. Singer Celine Dion has announced that she is expecting twin boys. Congradulations. As mentioned previously, the Emmys will air on Aug 29 and voters gave the seal of approval to new blood. 'Thursday Dish

Rapper DMX has been released from prison after serving four months out of a six month jail sentence for probation violation. The rapper was sent to prison in Arizona on March 9 for five counts of violating his probation in which all the violations were related to cocaine abuse. Here's  hoping the MC gets his life and career back on track. Singer Mary J. Blige has received her GED and may attend Howard University this fall. This is not a done deal just yet. The singer still  has to complete the admissions process, although the univesity has stated it does welcome her choice. Stay tuned. The Emmy award nominations were announced today, and voters awarded new blood with nods for trophy shots. "Glee", "The Good Wife", "Nurse Jackie" and "True Blood" were all nominated for best series. Be sure to catch the show on NBC on Aug 29. Jimmie Fallon will host. If you've been waiting for CBS's "Big Brother" to return, wait no more. Fans will recall the one time drug lord filed suit against Ross and his record label Def Jam, claiming the rapper used his name to sign a deal with the rap label. Ross's next project will be released as planned.  In an effort to jump start her career, rapper Lil Kim says she'd like to do a duet with singer Rihanna. No word on whether any plans for the two to get together in the studio have been made. It sounds like an interesting pairing, nevertheless. CNN host Larry King has announced that he will sign off of the cable network's signature show "Larry King Live" this fall after 25 years. While the network has stated that it hasn't negotiated with anyone and will make a decision later this summer, several names have been thrown in the hat as possible replacements. Among them, "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric, whose contract expires this fall; Piers Morgan, a former British talk show host and now judge on "America's Got Talent" and "American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest. Stay tuned.  Directors Katheryn Bigelow and Michael Moore have been elected to the board of governors that oversees the Oscars. The academy announced that Bigelow ("The Hurt Locker") and Moore ("Bowling For Columbine") were among 15 new or returning members elected to three year terms on the board of Acadmey of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Tuesday Tales

"Twilight Saga: Eclipse" topped the holiday weekend box office, earning 69 million dollars. "The Last Airbender", "Toy Story 3", "Grown Ups' and "Knight and Day" round out the top five films of the week.  With her latest single "Ride" in the top ten, singer Ciara has pushed up the release date of her next cd. Be sure to pick it up. Just in case you've missed it, it's down to the wire on "The Bachelorette" and one of the final five suitors will be sent home. Tune in to find out which suitor gets the boot. The networks are gearing up for what promises to be quite an interesting televison lineup for fall 2010. First, there's the remake of the 1970's classic "Hawaii Five-O", which will premiere on CBS. Other shows slated to premiere include: "Things My Father Says" and "The Defenders", among others. While the jury is still out on which of these shows will cut the mustard, it's sure to be a fall televison season viewers will not soon forget. The remainder of the summer movie season continues with the release of actor Leonardo DiCaprio's latest film "Inception".  The film appears to be yet another thrill a minute for movies goers. Be sure to catch it at your local cineplex. Thursday Dish

It looks like rapper Lil Wayne has finally caught a break afterall. The incarerated rapper has been sentenced to three years probation in Arizona for a drug possession charge. The New Orleans MC dodged jail time in an Arizona prison by striking a plea deal in a gun case steming from an arrest at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint back in 2008. Lil Wayne, who's given name is Dwayne Carter, was in court via video conferencing from New York where he's currently serving an eight month sentence after pleading guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He will serve his probation when his eight month sentence is complete. In more music news, rapper Game's next release has been pushed back yet again. No word on when the cd will be released. Actress Meryl Streep has expressed an interest in portraying former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in a film about Britain's first female prime minister. Pathe Films, a London based film producer and distributor, is in talks with Streep's repesentatives, but no agreement has been reached yet. The film is set to start at the end of the year. The competition is heating up on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" and it's appears that there are several contenders for the grand prize. Be sure to tune in.
