Monday Memo

The film "Takers" topped the weekend box office, earning over $20 million dollars. "The Last Exorcism", "The Expendables", "Eat, Pray, Love" and "The Other Guys" round out the top five films of the week. Kanye West and Jay Z have confirmed that the two are working on a five song album. No word on the title of the disc or when it will be released. A promoter is suing Akon for backing out of a concert eight days before the scheduled date and despite receiving $125,000 from his booking agent for the concert. According to court documents filed in the Surpreme Court of the State of New York, Lofraco Belgium claims that Akon was slated to appear with Kardinal Offishall and Colby O'Donis, but cancelled, citing "scheduling conflicts". Akon is being sued for breach of contract, fraud and concealment and Belgium is seeking $250,000 in expenses and millions in punitive damages. Hollywood's best and brightest turned out for last night's prime time Emmy Awards. Among last night's winners were: "Glee" and "Modern Family". The show was defintely one to remember. Movie fans should certainly prepare for a hot fall film line up as the season approaches. Among films slated to hit theaters are: "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" and "The American". We won't know for some time which films will snag Oscar nods, however there are quite a few worth checking out. On the tube: "House" on Fox, "Rules Of Engagement" on CBS, "Wife Swap" on ABC and "America's Got Talent" on NBC. Happy Monday!
