Monday Memo
The film 'The Hunger Games" topped the weekend box office once again, earning over $33 million dollars. "American Reunion", "Titanic", "Wrath Of The Titans" and "Mirror Mirror" round out the top five films of the week. Another shooting took place at a Young Jeezy concert in London Ontario, right after a shooting at the rapper's show in Toronto. Jeezy was about to take the stage when shots were fired. Two men were taken to the hospital with injuries. No word on the condition of the gentlemen. Jury selection begins this week in the murder trial of rapper G Dep. The MC faces 25 to life for a confessed murder a few years back. He rejected a plea deal that would have given him 15 years to life for the crime. His attorney stated that years of PCP used was what convinced him to confess. Rapper Kanye West and reality star Kim Kardashian seem to be getting closer by the day. Reportedly, to woo Kardashian, West made a few phone calls, and arranged to have a toy store roped off for a day so the two could learn to play chop sticks as seen in a recent film. This after West wrote and recorded the single "Theraful" in which he professed his love for the starlet. Best wishes to the couple. Due to his financial troubles, rapper Young Buck has been ordered by a judge to sell all intellectual property as part of his Chapter 7 bankruptcy settlement. Among items for sale will be all trademarks and copyrights, all masters, compositions, royalties, rights and licenses owned by debtor and all rights of publicity owned by debtor. This could be a career turn around for the rapper, who was once a member of 50 Cent's G-Unit. He has indicated that he's open to a reunion with the crew, and that he's in negotiations to release music through the label. After a ten year hiatus, rapper Eve is set to release new music. During an interview with TheWomenOf HipHop.com, the Ruff Ryder stated she's a fan of newcomer Azalea Banks and likes her style. She even weighed in on the Lil Kim-Nicki Minaj feud by saying she believes it's about respect. Eve will release a new single this year to be followed by the album "Lip Lock". The competition continues on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" as contestants battle it out for the grand prize. On the tube: "Bones" on Fox, ""How I Met Your Mother" on CBS, "Dancing With The Stars" on ABC and "The Voice" on NBC. Happy Monday!
