Wednesday Roundup
It's a done deal for music mogul James "Jimmy Henchman" Roseman. He was convicted of 13 counts of drug trafficking. He was the mastermind behind a cocaine ring that distributed drugs to several cities. He could face life in prison. No word on when he will be sentenced. Reporters will have to learn to watch what they say to singer Rihanna. During a recent interview, the singer was asked about her two remixes with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. The reporter pointed out that working with Brown could sent the wrong message. Rihanna responded by saying she didn't want to discuss trivial matters. The album cover art of Nas's latest album has some speculating. The Queensbridge MC can be seen with a green dress across his lap. The dress is similar to the one worn by ex-wife Kelis on their wedding day. No comment from the MC on the photo, and no word on when the album will hit stores. It looks like Kim Kardashian has come between Kanye West and Jay Z and Beyonce. When Jay Z and Beyonce hosted a recent event in Paris, Kardashian was banned from attending due to Beyonce reportedly not wanting anything to do with the reality star. West then skipped his own event because of the ban. Meanwhile, it looks like 90's hip hop star Mase has joined West's G.O.O.D. Music family. The Harlem rapper took to Twitter to make the announcement, to the surprise of many. West has mentioned a fondness for Mase in the past, even going so far as to evoke the lyrics to his 1997 hit "Lookin At Me" in the chorus of his own hit "Cold". Mase's profile also received a boost from Wale, who recruited him to appear on the remix of his hit single "Slight Work". Mase made a special guest appearance at Summer Jam over the weekend to perform his verse on the song. The G.O.O.D. Music family has been growing. Recent additions include 2 Chainz, Q-Tip and Teyana Taylor. Singer/actress Jennifer Hudson is doing a good deed. She's former a charity in honor of her late nephew Julian. She will host events, along with her sister Juila in an effort to help underprivileged children. Actor Idris Elba graces the cover of the latest issue of Jet magazine. The hunky actor discusses his career, his stance on making in the film industry and what's in his future. The latest issue of Jet magazine is on newsstands now. Big Sean fans will be happen to know that the Detroit MC says he's hard at work on his sophomore release. During an interview with bet.com, the rapper stated that he has about nine songs for the album, with plenty of other material in the can. He recently appeared on Lil Wayne's new single "My Homie Still", which is somewhat of a remake of his single "Dance (A$$). The collaboration came as a surprise to many, due to Wayne's reported beef with Sean's G.O.O.D. Music labelmate Pusha T. Sean says his verse on the song was recorded months ago. No word on when the album will hit stores. Rock-A-Fella Records co-founder and Jay Z's former business partner, Kareem "Biggs" Burke was sentenced to five years in prison, according to the New York Daily News. He was one of 50 people caught up in "Operation Green Venom", a federal drug sting that targeted a drug trafficking ring in New York City. The low-key member of the Rock-A-Fella ownership structure (along with Jay and Damon Dash) plead guilty to marijuana distribution charges in March. He was sentenced for conspiring to distribute more than 100 kilos of marijuana. He told the judge in the case she would not see him in court again. The competition continues on "So You Think You Can Dance". It's anyone's guest how the season will fair. On the tube: "So You Think You Can Dance" on Fox, "Dogs In The City" on CBS, "The Middle" on ABC and "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" on NBC. Happy hump day!
