Tuesday Tales
The Michael Jackson wrongful death trial is underway in Los Angeles and footage of the "This Is It" concert rehearsal film was shown to the judge and jury during opening statements. Meanwhile, fans have flocked to the courtroom to get a glimpse of the proceedings. Public Enemy front man Chuck D is making it clear that he's not feeling the Jay Z/Kanye West hit "N In Paris". After a concert in the city, he had to correct a fan when the fan called him he N word by saying that the word is offensive to people of African descent. He even took to Twitter to make his feelings on the matter known. First daughter Malia Obama got an opportunity to attend a Rihanna concert. Pictures of the event have been posted on the Internet. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West aren't asking well wishers for gifts for their baby. They're asking that everyone make a donation to Children's Hospital. Nice gesture. Queen Bee Lil Kim is set to make a major comeback. The Brooklyn rapper announced that she's tapped producer Bangladesh to helm her first studio album in a decade. She added that other producers are working on the album as well. There's a new single on the way, which will be produced by Bangladesh, and she has plenty of gifts in store for fans as well. She's also breaking new artists Tiffany Fox and Young Goldie, whom she collaborated with on the track "1 Hunna". Lil Kim's new album is set to hit stores later this year. It looks like the effort to get singer Mariah Carey booted off Fox's "American Idol" wasn't as sinister as first thought. Reported singer Jennifer Lopez has talked with Fox about returning to the show since her twins will be starting school soon and they'll need stability. No word on a deal as yet. With several releases on the horizon for the coming months, it looks like summer 2013 will be the summer of J Cole. The rapper's highly anticipated album "Born Sinner" is set for release and he has quite a surprise in store for fans. Sampling Lauryn Hill's "Nothing Even Matters" for the single "Cole Summer", he turns the track from a love song to a lyrical diary about career feats and fears. He even added a verse in case Ms Hill doesn't approve of the sample. "Born Sinner" hits stores on June 25. Fans will be happy to know that rapper Pusha T and Juicy J both have new music due out in July. On DVD: "Silver Linings Playbook", "The Guilt Trip", "Not Fade Away" and "Broken City". On the tube: Hell's Kitchen" on Fox, "NCIS" on CBS, "Splash" on ABC and "The Voice" on NBC. Happy Tuesday!
