Wednesday Roundup

Rapper Rick Ross is still feeling the fallout over lyrics that seem to suggest that he condones date rape. Meanwhile, Tyga and Meek Mill are coming to his defense. Tyga says it doesn't matter what Ross says because he's protected by the First Amendment. Meek Mill says he likens Ross' lyrics to a film maker who writes about rape. Just because the film includes a rape scene doesn't mean the writer condones it. Rapper Jay Z may be giving up his share in the Brooklyn Nets. His Rock Nation will be getting into sports management and it would present a conflict of interest. It's against NBA rules for any owner to own shares in a team while managing a player. Singer Ciara says she's happy. She's currently dating rapper Future and says he's her best friend as well as her boyfriend. She even went so far as to say that the two may start a family soon. Best wishes to the pair. In other Ciara news, it looks like inviting she and singer Rihanna to the same party wouldn't be wise. When asked if she'd speak if she saw Rihanna in the same room, Ciara said she didn't know. In the meantime, Rihanna responded by saying "You don't know. Too easy". Don't know what's going on, but it doesn't appear to be good. The rapper who once rapped "187 on an undercover cop" is singing a new tune these days. Rapper Snoop Dogg, who will release the album "Reincarnation" under the name Snoop Lion, has teamed with MTV to release limited edition  MTV x Caliber metal bracelets, with some of the raw material coming from guns bought back by police. In a statement the legendary West Coast MC said "It's such an important message we're sharing. It's a movement we want generations to recognize, embrace and get behind". He'll be performing at the Staples Center on June 29 along with Kendrick Lamar,  Schoolboy Q and Miguel. Actress Stacy Dash weighed in on the Jay Z/BeyoncĂ© Cuba trip controversy by asking fans via Twitter what they thought about the matter. No word on what kind of response she received. On the tube: "American Idol" on Fox, "Survivor Caramoan: Fans Vs Favorites" on CBS, "The Middle" on ABC and "Dateline NBC" on NBC. Happy hump day!
