Friday Facts

During  an interview on "Sway In The Morning", Mississippi rapper David talked at length about the controversy sounding Oakland CA rapper V-Nasty's used of the n-word. Banner first went on to say that people are told to act a certain way and they then put it on their sleeves. He also went on to say that there are certain things friends can say to one another, because they are friends and come from the same place and have the same experiences. He added that V-Nasty's people were not hung from trees and forced to accept the n-word. People forget their history, he stated. For those unaware, the rapper released a single called "Swag", addressing the matter at hand even further. V-Nasty, of course responded. Banner insists that the record wasn't about V-Nasty, but about what we as a people accept. Any fans looking for a beef between the two need to look elsewhere. Banner says the V-Nasty should do her research before going to war with anyone and that the plight between the races is so much bigger than her. He says she doesn't seem to know the ramifications and pain of the word. It's great to see someone speaking out on the issue. No one should ever feel comfortable using the word ever. It looks like hard times have only gotten harder for former G-Unit member Young Buck. He's been put through the ringer over financial situation. This past October, Jeanne Burton, the trustee enlisted to help the rapper out of his bankruptcy, determined that he longer has a viable shot at reorganizing. Judge George C. Paine of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Nashville, Tennessee drew the same conclusion and decided to switch the rapper's Chapter 11 reorganization to Chapter 7  liquidation, the Wall Street Journal reported. As previously mentioned, the rapper filed for bankruptcy in September 2010 less than a month after his house was raided by IRS agents. At that time, the MC claimed his wasn't filing bankruptcy because he was broke, but because  he needed to get his finances in order and deal with the contract situation he was in at the time. Part of his original claim for filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy was contingent upon his ability to change the agreement between he and 50 Cent's G-Unit Records and Universal Music Group. Unfortunately, 50 didn't agree to terms of the new plan formulated to relieve his former friend. Meanwhile, Young Buck is scheduled to appear in court on January 30. To all Lenny Kravitz fans, the rocker is looking for love. He says he ready for some romantic stability in his life. He went on the say that it's not easy, as he's constantly traveling. He also went on to say he fights hard to not allow his father's ways to rub off on him. He's been linked to celebrities such as Victoria Secret model Vanessa Paradis and actress Nicole Kidman. He was married to actress Lisa Bonet for six years and the couple divorced in 1993. Fox's "The X Factor" ended with Melanie Amaro winning the grand prize. Yet another hip hop beef for fans to talk about. Waka Flocka Flame has attacked Wiz Khalifia. Waka, in so many words, has said that Wiz has become successful because of hype, and not swag. So far, Wiz hasn't responded. Let's hope all involved grow up soon. The industry is large enough for everyone to become successful. Rapper Gucci Mane will receive and early Christmas present. He'll be released from prison early after only serving half of his sentence. Tuesday Tales

Here's one for the shortest beef in hip hop. Rapper Cannabis ended his beef with J. Cole 48 hours after starting it. It all began when J. Cole sited Cannabis as an influence during an interview, even going so far as to name a few of the rapper's old hits. The  problem began when Cannabis got upset about the fact that J. Cole didn't mentioned the rapper's more recent material. Cannabis then released a dis track, only to recant everything 48 hours later. At any rate, let's hope all involved learn to grow up. There's plenty of room in the game for everyone. Rapper Lil Wayne appears to be the next artist to start a clothing line. He's taken his passion for skateboarding to the next level by teaming with Truck Wear to release a clothing line devoted to skateboarding. There's no word on when the line will hit store shelves. Rapper Snoop Dogg took the "it ain't no fun if the homies can't have none" thing a little too far recently. The rapper reportedly blazed one up and passed it to a fan in the audience during a concert in Atlanta recently. There's been no word on any arrests. It looks like the divorce between Mark Anthony and Jennifer Lopez is getting nasty. Lopez is rumored to be seeing a dancer, whom she's reportedly toured with. Meanwhile, Anthony is none too pleased with the relationship, as the gentleman has a criminal record for speeding mainly. Anthony has reportedly stated that he does not want he and Lopez's children near the man. We'll have to wait and see how this drama plays out. Rapper Flo Rida has struck a deal with prosecutors that will have him in a first time offender class instead of jail. Fans will recall the rapper was arrested in Miami some time back for dui. His blood alochol content was more than twice the legal limit. Let's hope from this point forward the rapper stays out of trouble, and gets back to what he does best. Making great music. Fans of Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy's "Thug Motivation" series will be sad to know that during a recent interview, the rapper stated that the latest installment, "TM03: A Hustler'z Ambition", will be the last. He says it's on to the next chapter, the next phase. Although the new album has held back several times, it's now set for a December 20 release and should be well worth the wait for fans of the rapper. He's also released a documentary about his life, "A Hustler'z Ambition", which was directed by Chris Robinson and narrated by Samuel L. Jackson. The documentary covers the rapper's life and career and should make for very compelling viewing for all. Rapper Drake is now in hot water with his hometown Toronto. The rapper placed a billboard up using the city's logo. The billboard was placed in October, and the city discovered it a few days ago. It remains to be seen what will come of the situation now.  The competition continues on "The X Factor" this week. The authorities were called and charges were pressed. It's unclear how much time the rapper will serve. Rapper Gucci Mane has made a deal with a woman regarding her 4-year-old child. As fans know, the rapper served a one year prison sentence in 2005 for lying about her knowledge of a shooting outside a New York City radio station. The shooting allegedly involved her entourage and the entourage of rap rival Foxy Brown. At any rate, it's great to see the Queen Bee has gotten her life and career back on track. Black Star fans will be happy to know that the group is possibly planning to release a new album. The group performed two shows in New York City, joined the Rock The Bells lineup this past summer, debuted two new tracks and announced plans for an Aretha Franklin inspired mixtape. The group's manager stated in an interview that the group will be heading to Africa to record some new material, but didn't say that an album is imminent. One can only hope.
