Tursday Dish
The top tweleve males performed on Fox's "American Idol" last night, and there doesn't seem to be a real standout in the competition this time around. The gentlemen didn't fair any better than the ladies did and it's anyone's guest who will take home the coveted prize. As I've mentioned before, Ellen DeGeneres adds some comic relief to the show and is a joy to watch. Singer Keyshia Cole has announced that she is seeing a Cleveland Cavalier basketball star and pregnant, but no word or whether she's given birth or not. As reported previously, rapper Lil Wayne is set to begin a jail sentence for a 2007 incident in Arizona. No word yet on the release date of his next cd, "Rebirth". The release date has been pushed back several times and it's anyone's guest when the finished product will finally hit store shelves. The signees to his Young Money Entertainment label have been making quite a bit of noise lately and it remains to be seen if a compilation cd will ever be released. I'm just hoping that after his jail sentence is completed the rapper will concentrate on more worth while persuits, like his music. It's just a travesty to see rap artists lose careers and freedom when they don't have to.

Wednesday Roundup
The top 12 women performed on Fox's "American Idol" last night, and some did well, while others bombed. As I've stated previously, I believe the show has recently become about who viewers really like, rather than about who technically is the best singer. Tonight, the top 12 men perform and it's anyone's guest who will give the best performance of the evening. On Thursday two men and two women will be voted off the show. The're in the mist of rounding out the top 24 contestants on "American Idol" and some great and not so great performances have been witnessed. Ellen DeGeneres has turned out to be a wonderful addition to the show offering comic relief. Speaking of "American Idol", I'd like to offer my take on the many reality shows flooding network televison lately. It seems that just as with music and movies there is a lack of creativity in televison as well. Just about every Joe Bloe you can name is being paid to behave badly and it's a real travesty. It's shameful because in a lot ot cases people's pain is being exploited and in other cases the worst you could ever want to see in a human being is marketed for comsumption. The show "Jersey Shore" is a prime example of what I mean. A woman gets punched and ratings go through the roof. I'll be happen when the networks get back to what made televison great instead of peddling nonsense. It would just make televions viewing much better. Just my opinion.

The "American Idol" auditons have been completed and 180 contestants are on their way to Hollywood. It will be interesting to see who makes the grade. As much as I enjoy the show, I have to say it has unfortunately, become more about who viewers pant for the most, rather than who is the best singer. Daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has joined the cast and has turned out to be a perfect fit for the show. That's minus sparing with Simon Cowell, of course. I've seen some really talented young men and women on the show; and I've seen some not so talented individuals on the show as well. Some really have got "it" as they say and some don't. I think some really get a kick out of seeing themselves on televison. That's the only logical explanattion for embarrassing themselves on national televison. The show will finally move to Hollywood next week and again, it will be quite interesting to see who finallly makes the grade. I will definitely tune in to see how the shows goes for the season. I can't wait to see what's in store for viewers like myself.

Monday Madness
The film "Avatar" topped the weekend box office once again, taking in over 30 million dollars. It could possibily top "Star Wars" as the biggest film in box office history. Music's finest turned out for last night's Grammy Awards. Beyonce took home six awards, including Best Female Pop Vocal and Best R & B Album, making her the winnest woman in the show's 52 year history. Tween sensation Taylor Swift took home four awards, including Best Country Album and Best Female Country Vocal. Other winners were: Jay Z and Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Maxwell, Zack Brown Band, Kings of Leon and Blackeyed Peas. Among the best performances of the evening were the 3D tribute to Michael Jackson featuring Smokey Robinson, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood and Usher, the Blackeyed Peas and Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli. Among the misses were the performance featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Emienem. It would have been great to hear the song the trio performed. The Elton John-Lady Gaga performance I thought was a bit over the top. Otherwise, another fabulous show put together by the producers and directors. I can hardly wait for next year.
