Tuesday Tales
The new cast of ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" was announced and the among those lacing up their dancing shoes for an appearance on the show are: "Jersey Shores" Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, Brandy, Michael Bolton, Florence Henderson, Bristol Palin and Kurt Warner. The show kicks off it's new season September 20. Be sure to tune in. This season's "Big Brother 12" has, to say the least, been filled with one surprise after another. Be sure to tune in to see who wins the grand prize. "Bachelor Pad" is another show filled with surprises as well. Catch the show on ABC. Nicki Minaj and Drake played a humorous prank on social networking site Twitter this past Friday. Drake rhymes about wanting to marry Minaj on his latest single, "Miss Me". Minaj then initiated the prank on Twitter. While fans quickly caught on to the prank, news of the reported union spread quickly on the internet. The story got enough traction that a representative for Drake felt the need to deny the rumor. Lauryn Hill brought out John Legend and others at a recent concert. From all reports, Ms Hill is looking and sounding wonderful. Let's hope she gets some new music in stores soon. She has been missed. The film "Takers" topped the weekend box office, earning over $20 million dollars. "The Last Exorcism", "The Expendables", "Eat, Pray, Love" and "The Other Guys" round out the top five films of the week. Kanye West and Jay Z have confirmed that the two are working on a five song album. No word on the title of the disc or when it will be released. A promoter is suing Akon for backing out of a concert eight days before the scheduled date and despite receiving $125,000 from his booking agent for the concert. According to court documents filed in the Surpreme Court of the State of New York, Lofraco Belgium claims that Akon was slated to appear with Kardinal Offishall and Colby O'Donis, but cancelled, citing "scheduling conflicts". Akon is being sued for breach of contract, fraud and concealment and Belgium is seeking $250,000 in expenses and millions in punitive damages. Hollywood's best and brightest turned out for last night's prime time Emmy Awards. Among last night's winners were: "Glee" and "Modern Family". The show was defintely one to remember. Movie fans should certainly prepare for a hot fall film line up as the season approaches. Among films slated to hit theaters are: "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" and "The American". We won't know for some time which films will snag Oscar nods, however there are quite a few worth checking out. Rapper Kanye West and Death Row Records mogul Suge Knight could not come to an agreement regarding settling a suit filed in connection with a 2008 shooting that occurred at a party West hosted. Knight is asking for $1 million dollars in damages. It appears that the two will head back to court. Stay tuned as the story develops. Rapper J. Cole says he received his record deal by crashing a birthday party held at rapper Jay Z's 40/40 Club for Aaron Reid. He says he passed out copies of his cd, but didn't see Hova until it was too late. He says he at least got some motivation out of the experience. The New Boyz are gearing up for the release of their sophmore album, titled "Too Cool To Care" a year after their debut. The guys say they made the music they wanted to make, despite criticism. No word on a release date for the disk, however. It's two days before televison's biggest night, and the prime time Emmy Awards are bound to be filled with surprises and more surprises. The show airs on Sunday August 29. Fans of the show "Lost" will be happy to know that the series is getting the dvd treatment. The dvd will include all six seasons and bonus footage as well. No word on when the dvd will be released. With summer winding down, several films are gearing up for release at the local cineplex. While only time will tell which films will win Oscar nods, "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps", "Never Let Me Go" and "Life As We Know It' are among the films that fans can check out when they hit theaters. Singer Ne-Yo and his booking agent have been ordered to pay 156,000 to a promoter for a missed concert appearance in Washington state in 2008. Fans will recall that the singer was sued by the promoter after he reportedly took a deposit, but didn't show up for the gig. In other Ne-Yo news, the singer has an album set for release later this year. Producer Timberland made news recently in a way that he probably wishes he hadn't. Los Angeles police were contacted by his family when they feared a suicide attempt. The producer reportedly told his brother-in-law that he was disturbed by a robbery in which a $2 million dollar watch from Jacob & Co. was among the items stolen. He apparently thinks someone he knows could have been the culprit. He left his house after speaking with his brother-in-law and began driving his Escalade. His family became concerned when they couldn't reach him and contacted police. Shortly after, police helicopters and squad cars began searching for the producer. The helicopter eventually caught up with him and pulled him over and spoke to him to determine if he was a threat to himself. He was put in the back of a squad car and taken home where he along with his family was interviewed. Paramedics then arrived to evaluateTim and determined that he wasn't a threat to himself or others. Stay tuned for more as it develops. Rumors are swirling regarding who the cast members of the new season of "Dancing With The Stars" will be. "Jersey Shore's" The Situation, Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Ugetel and David Haslehoff are among those who could possibly appear on the show. Reps for Chris Brown are now saying that the tour with their client and Usher Raymond will not happen. This after the rumor mill reported that the two could possibly do a tour together. At any rate, it's a shame an agreement couldn't be worked out between the two. Singer Brandy is being sued by Scandinavian DJ Mark Mysterio for failing to write "32 Bars Of Music" as promised. In court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court this past Friday August 20, the suit claims Brandy accepted a $10,000 check from the DJ back in July, but has yet to record the music. Mysterio says he's consequently lost $25,000. He stressed that he has an international following in markets like Italy, the UK and France. In other Brandy news, rumor has it that she will be one of the contestants on the new season of "Dancing With The Stars" Stay tuned for more developments as they come. VH1's "Behind The Music" featuring singer Fantasia Barrino aired last night and the singer detailed her past and present struggles. Here's hoping that the singer can overcome those struggles and get back to doing what she does best. At long last the Emmy Awards will air this Sunday and it's anyone's guest who will walk away with the coveted statue. Be sure to tune in to VH1"s "Behind The Music" as singer Fantashia Barrino discusses with the cable network the fact that her recent overdose was no accident. She says she didn't care about anything and just wanted out. At any rate, the singer is doing much better now. She appeared at a North Carolina club looking healthly and happy. No word on when or if she'll tour to promote her latest album. Chelsea Handler, who will host the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards, stated on Ryan Seacrest's KISS-FM radio show that she'd like to get rapper Kanye West and country singer Taylor Swift together, one year after West interuppted Swift's acceptance speech at the event. We'll see if the feet can be pulled off when the show airs. The MTV Video Music Awards will air on September 12 at 9 p.m. Usher is preparing an abbreviated version of songs that can either stand alone or as part of a deluxe original. His latest, "Raymond Vs Raymond" is still buring up the charts. "America's Got Talent" has turned out to be a mixed bag of hits and misses this season. Only time will tell who will win the grand prize. Fall is quickly approaching and there are quite a few films in the works that are sure to warm up the season. The film "The Expendables" took the top spot at the box office once again, earning over 16 million dollars. "Vampires Suck", "Eat, Pray, Love", "Lottery Ticket" and "The Other Guys" round out the the top five films of the week. Rapper Kanye West says he intends to release a new song each week until Christmas. The remix for his currently single "Power" is still heating up the air waves. Still no word on when his next album will be released. Rapper Lil Wayne will be released from prison in November and his artist Drake says there will be a welcome home Lil Wayne concert to celebrate. Miami disk spinner DJ Kaled has confirmed that he has inked a deal with Cash Money Records. No word on when his first album for the label will be released. With fall quickly approaching, the networks are all gearing up for the premiere of quite a few new shows. The remake of the 1970's cop drama "Hawaii Five-0", "%$ My Dad Says" and "Mike And Molly" are just a few of the new shows premiering. Only time will tell which shows will be a hit or miss with viewers. Of course, old favorites will be returning as well. George Clooney is preparing for the release of his next fillm "The American". Rapper/producer Dr Dre is not happy that apparently tracks from his long awaited next release, "Detox" have been leaked over the internet. Although no one seems to know when or how the leak occurred, Dre is still pressing forward with work on the disk. Soulja Boy, who made Forbes magazines Cash Kings list, says contrary to what the magazine reported, he made over 7 million dollars the past year. The magazine projected his earnings at about 6 million. At any rate, he says he's blessed and grateful to have made the list. Usher's latest release "Raymond Vs Raymond" makes his fifth consecutive multi-platinum release. He still has several singles heating up the charts. No word on when or if he'll tour in support of the album. With "Recovery" still burning up the charts, rapper Eminem says he's not certain when he will retire. He told Vibe magazine he may still release albums, but has no idea when he will hang up the mike. For those who saw the shocking eviction on last night's "Big Brother 12", be sure to keep tuning in as there are bound to be more surprises in store. Only time will tell who will walk away with the grand prize. There is much speculation that NBC will revive the 1970's cop classic "The Rockford Files" with Josh Holloway as the lead character. Wyclef Jean's bid for president of Hiati appears to be a go. The singer/rapper/producer has proven that he has lived in the country and owns a radio station there. He also pays taxes in the country as well. Stay tuned. Rapper Kanye West will not have to face Death Row Records head Suge Knight in court. A hearing is taking place in connection with a shooting before the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards. Fans will recall Knight sued West after the music mogul was shot at a pre-MTV Awards party the West hosted. . Stay tuned. In other Kanye West news, the rapper/producer has reached out to teen sensation Justin Bieber on Twitter regarding a collaboration. Bieber responded and it looks like the two will record together. Let's wait for the finished product to to be released. Latin singer Ricky Martin is set to release his memoir titled "Me"on November 2. A Spanish version of the book titled "Yo" will be released the same day. Martin has said that preparing to write the book was one of the reasons he decided to reveal that he is gay. Singer Keyshia Cole and rapper Nicki Ninaj were to record a song together recently when a cat fight began. Reportedly, a male friend of Nicki's made a not so kind remark to Keyshia Cole, Ms Cole promptly let the gentleman know the remark was not appreciated and then Nicki got involved. No blows were exchanged, just words. It's a shame the ladies could not get along. In lighter news, for the third time in five years rapper Jay Z has topped Forbes magazine's Cash Kings list. Hov earned 63 million dollars in the past year. His earnings come from his investments in his 40/40 chain, his Fela Broadway play and his "Blueprint 3" album and tour. Sean "Diddy" Combs came in second place, earning 30 million. Singer Akon and rapper Lil Wayne followed close behind. Singers Usher and Chris Brown are slated to tour together. It should be a wonderful show, so catch them when they appear in your area. The Emmy Awards are still a few weeks away and Hollywood is, no doubt, still brewing with excitment. "Glee" is among the top nominees. Be sure to tune in to see who takes home the gold statue. The show will air on August 27. Actor Michael Douglas is currently being treated for a tumor on his throat. Rapper Lil Wayne just can't seem to catch a break. Melissa Philipian, the rapper's former manager, is suing Wayne for fraud and breach of contract. Philipian claims Wayne terminated her back in 2005 after she booked him a hotel room below his standards. She filed suit against Weezy in 2006 claiming that he owed her money for shows she booked before being fired. Though Wayne denied the accusations and said he signed a contract, the case was settled out of court for $375,000. Philipian has now come forward with what she believes is new evidence that Wayne lied under oath during the 2006 court hearings. She has obtained a video in which Wayne refers to her as his manager and credits her good work. She is now suing Wayne for brach of contract, civial conspiracy and tortuous interference. Bryan "Baby" Williams and Ronald "Slim" Williams were also named in the suit. For Nelly fans who've wondered where the rapper has been, wonder no more. The St Louis native is slated to release a work out dvd next month. He also has a album scheduled to be released in November. 112 fans will be happy to know that reportedly the group has reunited and will release an album sometime this year. It will be great to have the group back after a long hiatus. The BET reality series "Trey Songz: My Moment" has been cancelled due to low ratings. In other televison news, the series "Entourge" has been cancelled also. Be sure to catch "Going The Distance" starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. The Sylvester Stallone film "The Expendables" won the weekend box office battle, earning over 35 million dollars. "Eat, Pray, Love", "The Other Guys", "Inception" and "Scott Pilgrim vs the World" round out the top five films of the week. Shortly after being released from prison rapper DMX was pulled over by police for a traffic violation. After serving a jail sentence and successfully completing rehab, let's hope that the rapper will stay out of trouble in the future. Rapper J. Cole recently stated that it's unlikely he'll release another mixtape before the release of his debut album. Although no release date and title of the umcoming project have been announced, the rapper did confirm that he worked with producers Pharrell, Jim Jonsin, Salaam Remi and Chicago producer No. I.D. The album is slated to be released later this year. Newlyweds Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys are still enjoying their honeymoon. The two recently cruised the Mediterranean with friend Queen Latifah in tow. They surveyed the beaches from offshore, and Ms Keys even hopped on a water scooter and rode the waves in a two piece peach bathing suit. Model/talk show host Tyra Banks has apologized for a promo for the next season of "America's Next Top Model" where it shows a six-foot-two inch model with an extremely small waistline. Banks, who was the victum of body bullying after unflattering pictures of her appeared in several magazines, stated that the promo was misconstrued. Rapper DMX has been released from prison after serving sixty of a ninety day jail sentence. Here's hoping the rapper can get his life and career back on track and get back to work soon. He has been missed. Rapper Fabolous's Turtle Top Van was stolen in Washington DC this pass weekend while the hip hop star was performing there. DC authorities informed the MC they located the stolen car on Tuesday. Ever the comedian on Twitter, he took to the social networking site to inform his followers of the developments involving the incident. He poked fun at the matter by stating, "If you want a ride in the Turtle Top Van, just ask". Be sure to pick up a copy of XXL magazine featuring rapper Shyne on the cover. The MC discusses his jail stint and his conversion to the Jewish faith. Check out the latest issue of the Source as well featuring Bun B, Drake and others on the cover. "American Idol" season 3 winner Fantashia Barrino was rushed to a North Carolina hospital after an accidential overdose, it was reported. No other details have been released as yet. On a lighter note, singer Rihanna has tied Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga for the most number one singles in Nielsen's BDS-based 18-year history. She tied the record with her appearance on Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie", which currently sits a top the Billboard 100 chart. The song marks her sixth chart topper. She also topped the charts with "S.O.S", "Take A Bow", "Disturbia" and "Live Your Life" with rapper T.I., as well as "Rude Boy" earlier this year. Just when it appeared that it wouldn't happen, its been confirmed that singer Brittany Spears will appear on an epidsode of Fox's "Glee". No word on which epidsode the star will appear on or when it will air. Even with dozens of followers on Twitter, rapper Kanye West has been following a man from Canada on the social networking site. No word on whether there will be a collaboration between the two or not. Rapper Kanye West has reportedly changed the title of his next album. No word yet on a title. Cable network BET will air a first ever music documentary on women in hip hop. Titled "My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women In Hip Hop", the documentary will feature interviews with artists and executives Missy Elliott, Eve, Trina, Yo Yo, MC Lyte, Ra Digga, Jermaine Dupri, Russell Simmons and Kevin Liles, among others. It will examine gender-specific differences in artistry, marketing, promotion and economics. It reveals much about the industry as well. The show will air on August 30 on BET at 10:00 PM. Biever Fever was proven to be far from over as the teen sensation led all winners at last night's "Teen Choice Awards'. The teen took home Choice Music: Male Artist, and Choice Music: Breakthrough Artist, among others. Rapper Eminem, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Jason Derulo were also big winners. Rapper Dorrough, who rose to fame with the hit single "Ice Cream Paint Job", has announced the title and release date of his second album. The sophomore disc, titled, "Get Big", will be released September 7, via Entertainment One Music/Ngenius. The rapper said in a statement that he spent a lot of time working on the tracks and has given comsumers what they deserve. It appears that not everyone is supporting rapper/singer/producer Wyclef Jean's bid for president of Haiti. Former Fugees member Pras has stated that he will vote for the opposition. Actor Sean Penn, who is well known for his humanitarian efforts, recently said in a statement that special attention should be paid to those who are enamored with Wyclef Jean. Stay tuned. Rapper Nicki Minaj has finally announced the title and release date of her highly anticipated debut cd. The cd will be called "Pink Friday" and will be released on November 23. The rapper recently chopped it up with fans on Ustream about her album and the suggestions they made regarding a title. Prince is reportedly being sued by his former attorney, Ed McPherson. Tuesday Tales
Things suddenly turned ugly when rapper T-Pain made his way into Sidney's airport Sunday night. According to Splash News, the rapper's bodyguard exchanged words with one of two photographers on the scene before tackling him to the ground and putting him in a chock hold. Reportedly, the rapper kept walking as the incident unfolded. Pain had flown in from Perth where he had performed at the 2010 Winterbeatz Festival. The singer has not commented on the matter. Rapper/singer/producer Wyclef Jean will reportedly run for president of his homeland Haiti. The singer told CNN that he has filled out the proper documentation alllowing him to run for office. He has been Haiti's most well known figure since hitting with the Fugees in 1996. He has done a lot of charity work with his Yele Haiti Foundation and was one of the first on the ground to assist with relief efforts after the country's devastating earthquake back in January. Rapper Eminem has been nominated for a record eight MTV Video Music Awards, but is not happy. The rapper recently stated that he has two shows on the other side of the country the day after the show. He says he will attend the awards ceremony, but don't expect him to be nice about it. The MTV Video Music Awards will air September 12 at 9 pm. The upcoming nuptials of "Basketball Wife" Gloria and NBA star Matt Barnes have been postponed. No reason has been given for the postponement. The comedy "Lottery Ticket" will hit theaters on August 20 and stars rapper Bow Wow and others. The film appears to be a very funny one that shouldn't be missed. Monday Memo
"Inception" held on to number one for the third week in a row, earning over 27 million dollars. "Dinner For Schmucks", "Salt", "Despicable Me" and "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge Of Kitty Galore" round out the top five films of the week. Several weekend weddings occurred. Singer Alicia Keys and producer Swizz Beatz tied the knot in a small ceramony, rapper T.I. married his long time love Tameka "Tiny" Cottle and former first daughter Chelesa Clinton married her long time love as well. Congradulations to all. For those who have been wondering, wonder no more. Singer Kelly Price is back. The singer stated she's hard at work on a new project and it's slated to be the singer's most personal work to date. No name or release date for the project has been announced yet. Singer Faith Evans is reportedly working on new music as well. No name or release date has been announced. At any rate, it's great to see both ladies back on the scene. If you haven't already, check out "True Blood". The show has turned out to be a thrill ride for fans and shows no signs of slowing down. Actors Mark Wahlberg and Will Farrell star in "The Other Guys" out this weekend. The film is a hilarious action comedy that should delight fans of the genre.
