Monday Memo

The film "Thor" soared to the top of the weekend box office, earning over $66 million dollars. "Fast Five", "Jumping The Broom", "Something Borrowed" and "Rio" round out the top five films of the week. Just when brewing companies are pegging hip hop artists to endorse their products, one company in particular hasn't been as lucky. Colorado beer company Twin Pines tried unsuccessfully to sign Wu Tang Clan MC Ghostface Killah to a deal. The company has even named it's new beverage "Ghost Face Killah".  The general manager of the company stated in an interview that they tried to contact the rapper, but never received a call back.  The new brew is made of five different types of peppers. Promoter Live Nation Entertainment and social media site Groupon have launched a joint venture where fans will be offered discounted tickets to concerts, sports and other live events. GrouponLive will give Live Nation and it's global ticketing business, Ticketmaster, a new avenue for reaching casual consumers not attracted by traditional marketing. It's aimed at those who are unaware of an event or who buy tickets at the last minute. The venture is not only about cutting prices, but drawing new customers. Matthew Morrison, star of the Fox hit "Glee", will have an additional treat for fans when he releases his debut album tomorrow. The album, titled "Mark Morrison", will feature duets with Elton John and Gwyneth Paltrow, among others. He says he wants people to know who he is since he's known for his work on the show. The 42nd New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival ended with veteran artists closing the show with strong sets. The Neville Brothers, Sonny Rollins, Bob French and the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band and the Radiators were among the performers at the annual event. The competition continues on tonight's "Dancing With The Stars". It's getting down to the wire, and it remains to be seen who will walk away with the mirror ball trophy. Another hilarious episode of "How I Met Your Mother" airs as well. On the tube: "House" on Fox, "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS, "Dancing With The Stars" on ABC and "Chuck" on NBC. Happy Monday!
