Wednesday Roundup
The manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, began with the defense playing a tape of the singer before his death. The tape was played to show that the singer was addicted to drugs and not killed by Dr. Murray. Jackson's friend testified in court saying that Jackson was in bad mental and physical shape before his death. The singer's mother, Katherine, was in the court room, along with sisters Janet and Latoya and brothers Randy, Tito and Jermaine. Someone in New Orleans claims to have a copy of a sex tape featuring Lil Wayne and a woman who resembles Nicki Minaj. Although neither rapper's camp has commented, mediatakeout.com reportedly has weighed in on the matter by saying that they are looking into it. We'll have to wait and see what comes to light as a result. Those who assume that rapper YC Worldwide will have a problem coming up with a follow up to his smash hit "Racks" should think again. In a recent interview, the MC stated that he's in the studio with Waka Flaka and production duo Cool & Dre. He also revealed that he plans to release a mixtape titled, "Financial Aid" before the release of his debut album. He further elaborated that he's in the process of deciding on a second single. With features from Wale, Gucci Mane and others, YC will release his mixtape via the web on Halloween. It's not looking good for Jimmy "Henchman" Roseman, as the music mogul is facing additional charges by federal prosecutors. Roseman, whom the feds accused of operating a drug ring under the guise of a successful talent management company, was already facing drug trafficking, money laundering and obstruction charges. Now, he's being indicted for possession of a machine gun and silencer, according to the New York Post. The guns were discovered by Dug Enforcement Administration agents during a search of Roseman's properties. Under federal law, possession of a machine gun or silencer in connection with a drug crime carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 30 years. Roseman, whose Czar Entertainment once managed Game, Akon and Brandy plead not guilty to the new charges during a hearing. He has hired attorney Gerald Shargel to represent him. Elisabetta Canalis was eliminated on last night's "Dancing With The Stars". Tune in next week to find out who goes home. The season should be an exciting one, with the competition going into week three. On the tube: "The X Factor" on Fox, "Survivor: South Pacific" on CBS, "The Middle" on ABC and "Up All Night" on NBC. Happy hump day!
