Wednesday Roundup
Rapper Chief Keef has had yet another run in with the law. This time the teen rapper was pulled over and arrested for speeding. He was reportedly caught driving over 110 mph in a 55 mph zone. He was also found in violation of a permit that allows him only one passenger. There were three passengers in the car when the vehicle was stopped. After the arrest, the vehicle was released to one of the passengers. This is the latest incident involving the Chicago native. One week ago, he was arrested for smoking marijuana in a hotel room. He completed 60 days in juvenile detention and was placed on house arrest for probation violation stemming from a 2012 gun charge. Sad news out of the world of hip hop. Sharon Benjamin-Hodo, mother of Andre "3000" Benjamin, according to reports has died. According to family members, she died in her sleep in her Georgia home. For several years, she served as the manager of her son's group Outkast. Big Gripp tweeted condolences. During a 2007 interview, Ms. Benjamin-Hodo said of having a famous son, "I'm just an average mother. Happy days, sad days, some days are stressful, some days are peaceful. I keep asking God to keep me focused because it's not the star that's enhancing who I really am, it is what he carries, his spirit, his mind. That is what I'm grateful for". Although she retired from Outkast management a few years ago, she remained active in the community as a licensed real estate agent. She also founded the Starlight Foundation for underprivileged children at the New Moring Missionary Baptist Church where her husband, Robert Hodo, is paster. A spokesperson for the family said that in this time of griefing, supporting Starlight is appreciated in lieu of flowers.
