Wednesday Roundup
Over 300 to 400 family and friends attended funeral services for Amy Winehouse in London yesterday. Winehouse's father sang "So Far Away" during the service, which was a song he and the troubled star sang together. Ms Wineshouse will be missed. Rapper/actor Common has new music ready to hit the streets. His upcoming album is tentatively titled "The Dreamer, The Believer", and the first single is called "Ghetto Dreams". He explained during a recent interview that the point being made in the song is that he wants a bad woman. She looks good, can cook and can handle herself well on the street. "Ghetto Dreams" features a guest appearance from Nas and the two shoot the video for the single in Los Angles. There's been no announcement regarding when the album will hit store shelves. Rapper Wiz Khalifa celebrated the recent gold certification of his debut album "Rolling Papers" at the offices of Atlantic Records. There was a plaque presentation and the office was decorated with black and yellow balloons. "Rolling Papers" was released this past March and features the singles "Black And Yellow" and "Roll Up". The rapper is currently on tour with Big Sean. If ever given the opportunity to perform in Jamaica again, rapper Nicki Minaj should remember to watch her language. The rapper was fined for using profanity during her recent show on the island. She paid a fine and proceeded to the next venue. It may be an honor to play with Lauryn Hill, but the honor may not come with a paycheck. Guitarist Jay Gore, who played shows with the Grammy winner in 2007, is suing the star claiming he's own over $3,905 is compensation. The suit was filed in small claims court in Los Angeles. Hill will headline the Rock The Bells tour in August. The top eight contestants will perform on "So You Think You Can Dance". On the tube: " So You Think You Can Dance" on Fox, "Big Brother" on CBS, "The Middle" on ABC and "Minute To Win It" on NBC. Happy hump day!
