Friday Facts

Sad news out of the world of hip hop. Rapper Tim Dog, best remembered for his beef with NWA and the single "F*** Compton" in the early nineties is dead. He died of an apparent diabetes related seizure. He was 46. Born Timothy Blair, he was a fixture in hip hop for decades, releasing his debut album "Penicillin On Wax", in 1991. That album featured the single "F*** Compton", which dissed Dr Dre and NWA and caused a coastal beef which swept the industry. He also recorded projects with the Ultramagnetic MCs and KRS One ( I Get Wrecked). Nas gave him a shout out on 2006's "Where Are They Now". He made the news more recently when he was accused of conning a woman out of $30,000 online, an offense to which he plead guilty. He also penned a book, which is currently not for sale called "Who Killed Hip Hop?". Music executive LA Reid is now apologizing to the family of Emmett Till for the Lil Wayne assisted single "Karate Chop". He was unaware of the leaking of the song, and now efforts are being made to take the song down. So far, Lil Wayne hasn't commented on the matter. Singer Chris Brown and rapper Drake are now suing each other over their June 2012 brawl at New York City nightclub W.i.P. Each denies being involved in the bottle throwing incident, which left several people injured, including NBA star Tony Parker and model Romain Julien. According to celebrity web site TMZ, each is asking a judge to point the blame the other. Although both stars have been cleared of criminal charges in the matter, there are still several lawsuits pending in the case. The legal fallout could cost both millions. No court dates have been announced in the civil cases. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West caused quite a stir at JFK Airport in New York recently. The two were able to bypass airport security by being lead to a non-public walk way by an airport employee. When the security breach was discovered, the two were taken off the plane for a security check. The plane was detained for about 50 minutes, leaving fellow passengers fuming. The bottom line in this case is that the two should have gone through security like other passengers. Rapper 2 Chainz can add his name to the list of rappers who've had a run in with the law. He was pulled over and arrested for possession of marijuana during a traffic stop in Maryland. He was issued a citation and released soon after. He tweeted about the incident and even posted a photo of himself from the stage where he performed at University of Maryland Eastern Shore at their homecoming event. In theaters this weekend: "Beautiful Creatures", "Escape From Planet Earth", "A Good Day To Die Hard" and "Safe Haven". On the tube: "Kitchen Nightmares" on Fox, "The Job" on CBS, "Last Man Standing" on ABC and "Dateline NBC" on NBC. Make it a weekend!
