Monday Memo
The film "Identity Thief" topped the weekend box office, earning over $93 million. "Snitch", "Escape From Planet Earth", "Safe Haven" and "A Good Day To Die Hard" all round out the top five films of the week. Hollywood's biggest night took place last night. The Academy Awards were handed out with much fanfare. Jennifer Lawson won Best Actress, while Daniel Day Lewis took home the Best Actor Oscar. Anne Hathaway took home Best Supporting Actress, while Christoph Waltz won Best Supporting Actor. "Argo" was named Best Picture. Adele won Best Original Song for "Skyfall". Shirley Bassey, Adele and Jennifer Hudson all performed. Host Seth McFarland brought his edgy wit to his hosting duties, but went too far when mentioning on-again, off-again couple Chris Brown and Rihanna. As if he hasn't been in the new enough the last few weeks, rapper Lil Wayne is in the new yet again. He's been advised to contact a Miami rapper the next time he mentions the city. Former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight has two arrest warrants out, both for driving with a suspended license. Knight will have to pay a fine. Meanwhile, he and Snoop Dogg, aka Snoop Lion are BFFs. The two have partied together, and Snoop even Instagramed a picture of the two together with the caption that read "miss those Death Row days". Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have confirmed that the couple are expecting a baby girl. A friend of the couple told Us Weekly that they're "over the moon" by the news. Since both mom and dad are into fashion, the baby will be one of the best dressed infants in the world. No word on whether they have any names picked out just yet. It'll be interesting to see what contestants have in store for viewers on Fox's "American Idol". The ladies and gentlemen have performed, finalist have been selected and it's on to the next part of the competition. The season has started on a high note, we'll have to wait and see what else is in store. On the tube: "Bones" on Fox, "How I Met Your Mother" on CBS, "The Bachelor" on ABC and "The Biggest Loser" on NBC. Happy Monday!
